My first impression was "this is adult sized", and that's not what I was looking for. The age range says "3-14", and I don't know any three year olds with hands big enough to operate this. I was able to fit the glove on my own hand, so I'm pretty sure my four year old nephew is going to find it a bit big. Yes, a three year old could operate the mechanism, but I doubt they could do so while wearing it. The instructions suggest that it's for shooting foam darts rather than suction cups, but the mechanism is the same, so that's not a big deal.I found that the suction cups don't stick well to surfaces, and the instructions don't suggest wetting them first (on account of the fact that the instructions are not for suction cups). The spring mechanism is very strong, so if you've moistened the suction cups first, it's going to stick very well to most surfaces.This is a great toy for a child 10 years and older, but it's just too big for small hands
