Good game better then the new ones
Good game better then the new ones.Fifa has unfortunately gone worse on newer titles adding to much extras which 95% of people don't want. Why they not give a choice of playing a customised game version instead of forcing people to create teams ect isa mystery to me.I find this game awesome but I will not purchasing any of the new fifa titles after trying them !

Not much fun for beginners.
Ok, it's a long time since I've played a football game (probably PES on the N64) and I'm not a massive fan of the sport, but I thought a World Cup tie-in might be dumbed down enough for me to at least pretend to be a football fan for the span of the competition. I also wanted to get my 4 (nearly 5) year old son into the game. So, bear in mind that I'm coming to this game fresh with no recent experience of an EA FIFA game.First off, the laughable "2 button" mode. Why laughable? Well, because as soon as the tutorial video starts, you find out that it in fact uses about 6 buttons: 'X' and 'O' to pass and short, but then all manner of R1, L1, R2, L2 combinations to perform other moves. By the end of the tutorial, my son and I were none the wiser. The main menu is pretty confusing and badly laid out. For example, where's the settings menu? Oh, of course, it's been renamed to "My FIFA World Cup". There's a so-called tutorial mode, but it's not really a tutorial at all - a tutorial would give you tips and advice on playing the game well - this is just an empty sandpit in which the novice can simply repeat their bad mistakes without really learning anything. The game itself is not much fun to play - when you're in possession of the ball, the game stores up all your button presses and then executes them at its own discretion. So, you try and pass and nothing happens, so you press again, only to have the game make two passes. Great. When not in possession, it's extremely difficult to take control of the player you want - the game seems to pick this for you and it's usually the wrong one, e.g. a player six yards behind your opponent who's running towards your penalty area. Mid game, I couldn't figure out how to make a simple substitution - there's just no menu item with that name and no in-game help to assist you. The instruction pamphlet is no help here, so what am I supposed to do? Go online and try to find out? Is that really what you expect when you've shelled out £40 for a game? Or is this my punishment for not having bought previous games in the series? The graphics are pretty ropey too. All of the cut scenes (especially when the camera circles around the lined-up players) have a terrible framerate that judders along and is hard to watch. The animation of the managers, players and crowd members in other cut scenes is also appalling - did they not use motion capture? The players likenesses are comically bad - poor Wayne Rooney looks far more deformed than he does in real life! The sound is also very weak. The recorded announcer sounds extremely tinny (and has an annoying voice) and the balance of environmental sounds is very poor. And, in general, it doesn't really look or feel like any of the games I've watched in the World Cup - it's completely lacking in atmosphere and is, ultimately, utterly unconvincing. If I thought this was the best possible on today's game consoles, I might cut it some slack, but I've played other sports games (e.g. MLB 10, NFL 10) where it actually looks like some effort was put in. This game is clearly a lazy cash in, and I would certainly not recommend it.

Yet another FIFA Title with bugs in it!
This must be the seventh or eighth FIFA title that has had bugs in it. The last two games 09 and 10 had problems with saving in manager mode. Despite pretending that it was not a big problem I was advised by the EA Sports helpline that these problems were known and that a fix would be out 'soon'.As the FIFA games are lovely to look at and have all the official teams, players and stadia I normally tent to tolerate these bugs, but for such a 'seasonal' game, and bearing in mind it couldn't load any of the game saves I'd made I just sent this game back.Full credit to Amazon who gave me a full refund without any quibbles. For the record I received this game before the World Cup tournament started, and due to the bug it was sent back within 48 hours. It must be time for EA Sports for learn to release a game that works properly out of the box without using the consumers as live testers for yet more bugs!

Online is awesome
At first I was dissapointed with this game. However, once you get used to some of the new styles such as the penalties it is a really fun game. It is not the best game ever and if you were to choose between this or FIFA 11, I would go for FIFA 11.However, this game is really fun and although it is not perfect, I strongly recommend it. Online is the best part of the game and I cannot stop playing it. I really enjoy this game but the bad thing is that there is no lounge mode, although I know that this won't bother most of you, it is a big loss for me.

great
2008 Was when Fifa overtook Pro Evo, great game and every year they improve. This is still great to play to this day, and for a few quid you can't go wrong!

Good fun, for a while...
As with all one off sporting competition games, it's good fun, but once you' e played it through it's rather boring and tendious. Worth a buy though if you fancy something a bit different; FIFA don't fail to deliver! Only thing is playing this after the latest FIFA instalment (FIFA 17) the graphics feel old (as they would).

Disappointing
I bought this game expecting it to be very similar to FIFA 10.There are elements that are similar, like a version of 'be a pro',but the game play, including penalty taking has been heavily altered.I find the game now frustratingly difficult to play, and hence enjoy....The passing seems to follow no set patttern, thanks to more accurate following of the position of the anolog joystick I think, meaning that with a very simple pass on, your player decides to thump it past that player by about 30 yards, because the joystick was moved too far in that direction..Penalties are now much more difficult to take, finesse shooting tends to be anything but... ie you just can't score with it unless you are right next to the keeper. And lob shooting is now much more difficult. The end result is, it is nownext to impossible to score attractive goals , you just run into the box and blast them.I know some people may love the changes, but for me, the difference to FIFA 10 is just too great. It seems the people who made this game just forgot about game play, very disspointed. When will EA include World Cup and European championships in the FIFA games??
