Silent Coat Absorber 15mm 4 Sheet Bulk Pack Sound Absorber Noise Proofing Flexible Foam

Silent Coat Absorber pack of four sheets 60cm x 50cm x ~15mm thick.I have a house with heat-exchange ventilation and also a heat-pump-capable air-con unit. As supplied they have minimal reduction of noise from fans, ducts or compressors. Careful positioning of portions of these Silent Coat Absorber foam sheets has helped with making a big improvement in reducing duct echo and fan noise from the various equipment boxes.It helps a lot if the surfaces and the sheets are both warm (not hot), careful use of a hair dryer can prove very effective. It is important to remove any rust-preventive wax treatment from the surfaces before applying the sheets.It is best to fit the absorber in the cavity on all surfaces facing the fan, but taking care not to disrupt the air flow. Applying some of the Silent Coat Deadening mat to resonant panels behind the foam or on the other side can also help because the foam sheet is relatively light and might not have sufficient mass to detune a resonant panel.Adding pieces to the noisy rattling outdoor unit of a domestic air-conditioner soaked up some of the fan and compressor noise in addition to the Silent Coat deadener preventing various panels from resonating, and a couple of strategic bits of draft-excluder foam finished off the process. It is now almost silent.
