The description says silk. the picture shows matt. which is it?

I would say that the finish is more Matt than silk. The paint is odd. it seems a bit rubbery when you paint it on, needs 2 coats and is Matt finished I would say.

I have painted a bedroom, one wall in a hallway and few other places in the house, only painted back in the summer so not that long ago to really give a proper answer. When the bedroom was painted we thought all was way well,  then i notciced tiny little damps spots coming through, (please read on its not bad news!) I realised that when it was painted onto white walls it was hard to tell how good it was being painted on, so the small damp spots were coming through where it hasnt been painted properly.So i would say it does work. Since then ive painted over the left out patches and its been fine since.The damp in the house isnt as bad compared to some, ive seen and lived in very mouldy homes, its only small faint spots light mould behind furniture, around the windows, under pictures, but in places it was darker blacker mould, mostly corners on the outta walls of the house. I used a spray first and washed the walls to kill any mould. Then painted. Its quite thick and I used a roller to paint with, seemed to go on fine. If you are painting on white, like myself remember not all white is the same, so where ive done patches it does kind of show.....this would mean i would have to paint most of my house in anti mould paint! So dont assume you can just paint small section of a wall it will have to be the whole wall. Though saying that i did use SILK so it does have a sheen to the paint, painted onto matt walls.I think its meant to last 6 years, well thats what it says on the tin, only time will tell......Yes you can paint over old mould and mould stains.I would buy again and no doubt will find more patches in the house over time in this wet country!I hope this helps.

Has anyone used this paint on wood, or is it just appropriate for plaster?

I have not tried it on wood. It was difficult to apply on previously painted plaster

Can I use it over gloss/silk paint?

Can use it over any surface, as long as it is in decent condition. If existing paint is flaking or peeling, remove/sand it smooth first. If existing paint is a light colour, that can act as an undercoat. I used it once in that way, hence one coat. On another occasion, it was used on a newly plastered (dark) ceiling, and needed 3 coats.
