The Civil War: Brother Against Brother (Historical Social Studies 4th/5th grade Reader) (Social Studies: Informational Text) Perfect Paperback – Illustrated, January 30, 2017

This excellent book explores a huge part of our nation’s history with great illustrations. My kids were engaged with this part of our homeschool lesson, and asked questions which lead to further exploration.

This is playing a big role in our homeschool unit on the Civil War. It teaches in an accessible way. Kids 9+ could read it themselves but I will go through it with my 4th grader.

Bought this for grandkids and they loved it

This booklet is colorful, but too full of illustrations. There were not enough details or facts about the Civil War. A child reading or being taught from this book basically sees photos and drawings of bloody, body-strewn battlefields. They were there, for sure, but more written explanations and details would have been appreciated for those using this for a teaching tool.

Using this as a supplement to American History homeschooling. My son really has enjoyed the book.
