know what you got....
this is really good. but with zero heat.since every company seems to have a slightly different berebere, I have been using this with Whole Foods berebere, like 1/3 Whole Foods for the heat, and 2/3 this for the seasoning while being able to actually eat the Tibs i am making. This is really good, either add cayenne to taste or blend with another berebere though, as I feel you need at least SOME heat for real berebere. That said, many are too hot to actually use, this is solid berebere flavor without so much heat you can't possibly eat it. Excellent for blending other hot berebere to taste....

Very mild spice
I have recently just discovered this spice. I have found that it ranges in heat (spicy hotness that is) tremendously. This spice is very mild without any added salt. It's a little too mild to my taste but that can easily be changed by adding more chili or cayenne pepper. It's great with chicken and pork.It also is GREAT with riced cauliflower. I mix both with brown & wild rice dish that is cooked with cumin seeds.

Perfect amount of heat.
If you're not a spice hot lover, this is for you. Great flavor without the extreme heat.

Hands down, the best Berbere seasoning blend I've tried
What can I say? This seasoning blend is positively delicious. It's fragrant and fresh, perfectly sealed in the bag and stays fresh for months (not that it ever lasts that long in my house). We now make Berbere chicken at least once a week. I just wish they sold it in larger quantities so I could buy in bulk. I absolutely love Spice Way products and don't mind even paying a little more vs. other brands to ensure I'm getting good, quality spices that are sustainably and safely produced.

Fragrant and mor versatile than expected
I had a certain sense of what this spice mixture might be, and all of them included some heat. The one thing this mix lacks is actually a strength. I don’t have much experience with other versions of berbere seasoning, but this version from the Spice Way is good as a dry rub for bbq, roasting and sauté. I’ve only used it on chicken, and highly recommend it, but it’s probably good on a number of other things.

Didn't taste like I expected
It wasn't bad, it's just not the flavor I expected.Very low heat, cayenne is the very last ingredient. So my spice adverse spouse had no problems eating it. I don't care about heat, but I do care about flavor. We're lucky enough to have had several Ethiopian restaurants in driving distance. For decades, it's been my favorite cuisine. Heavenly flavors. For some reason I never thought to make some at home until recently, and I picked this spice blend for the first try.I expected a strong, dark red in the messer wot (red lentil stew) I was making, but I got instead a yellowish brown. That color matched the color of the spices in the package.I'm sure I'll use what's left of the package on something, roasted potatoes, maybe. But to me, this just wasn't berbere. I've already placed an order here to try a different brand that is imported from Ethiopia. A bit pricey, but hopefully I'll have better luck.
