Love the series. My daughter thought the book was great. The quality was good as well.

I watched movie first, but after I read the book I found movie just adapted fully from the book. Its simple plot will attract young readers. Three siblings with divorced parent start a new life in the countryside, and found a book that lead to a fantasy world. It is good beginning for a fantasy.

Completed our set. Great book. Good quality.

Read these books when I worked at a library. Got my grand daughter interested, she took it to Arkansas. Had to replace it.

Would recommend to all. Very inviting and captivating to read. Love the illustrations. Holly and Tony do well together in all of their reads.

I read this to my daughter, and we were both disappointed after all the excitement over these books. Not at all the best fairy stories out there, and it seems like kind of a cheap marketing tactic to sell a book that's so incomplete without the rest of the set. When I finished the story and said, "The End!" my daughter laughed and said, "Come on, keep reading!""No, really," I said, "that's it.""What? That wasn't really an ending." Leave it to a six year old to tell it like it is.Unlike, say, the Magic Tree House books, or any other number of series where there's a continuum of thematic elements and characters, but every book is a complete story, this just left my daughter feeling unsatisfied. Unless you plan to get the whole series, don't bother with just this one.

I am an adult now, but fell in love with this series long ago as a child. Still enjoy the read today, but as an adult wish they were larger books to read go by far to fast and I enjoy my massive fantasy tomes 600 plus pages. Yet still a great read for kids and adults alike! I don't even know if read them all as a kid, but recently bought this and the Beyond Spiderwick collections and looking forward to reading. Because I never even knew there was another series set in this universe until recently and it got me excited.

I think the book was just amazing it used just the right amount of detail with not to much and not to little. It was exciting I felt like I was in it, i felt like I was Jared it kept my hooked from the first chapter. The movie doesn't even come close. It was just outstanding, extraordinary, and amazing.
