Victron Energy SmartSolar MPPT Solar Charge Controller (Bluetooth) - Charge Controllers for Solar Panels - 150V, 45 amp, 12/24/36/48-Volt

After having a Renogy Rover melt on me (they warrantied it as defective), I decided to go with a quality product and am thankful I did. The Victron unit is much smaller than the Renogy and produces better power. For instance, I used the same two panels and changed the input from Renogy to Victron. The Renogy on average produces 10% less than the Victron measured through a shunt and application values.The app interface is also so much better and the ability to export a CSV is a huge benefit as I’m building a MySQL database of solar yield to weather patterns and battery voltage. I’m a data nerd so this was probably one of the features I was most excited about.It’s also fantastic that Victron has an open source software that can be run on a raspberry pi to add remote monitoring.

I think IMO the company Victron doesn't play their strengths for new purchaser's. For example this device at 12,24,48 is sippy on power. Less than 1/4 of a watt. Point 24 watts consumed. Other reviews on smaller Victron models claim wire lugs to small. First off they are bigger on this model. Second the smaller models had no problem with 10 gauge and 8 gauge would have fit.

This solar charge controller maximizes the power from PV to charge the battery. New and it is the first time to configure through Victron Connect app with Bluetooth connection. No big spark when connected to the battery. This solar charger is sturdy and very well made.

The media could not be loaded. I have been using EPEVER brand solar controllers for several years and I needed to upgrade because I added more panels. I chose to try the Victron 150/45 and it keeps going even in cloudy rainy low voltage conditions. The Epevers give up and do not track in low sunlight. Normally I think Victron is too expensive but in this case the controller is worth the extra moolah. I bought a Raspberry PI 4b to view the solar output and battery voltage on a monitor via wireless HDMI. Solar stuff is in the rear of my RV and the monitor is at the front. Wireless HDMI is invaluable. I also added the Raspberry PI 4 to the Victron via a VE cable which I made but meanwhile I also ordered the cable just in case I need an isolater later. I can view on my phone also but enjoy just viewing the monitor in my living room 24/7 live. Update: adding some pictures March 2025 and still working great.

Skimp on yer underwear, on shoes & socks and garden rocks. Who cares about them golden locks - skimp on hair dyes and crust for pies, the latest glasses to shade yer eyes, skimp on Squeezy Wombockle Maestros to thin your thighs. Skimp on pickles, and fountains for bubbly wubbly bevberages that snickle and trickle, goose down that tickles, and piggly wiggly vessels for stashing your nickles. Skimp on yer coffin, yer clutter and European butter.I'll bet the bogdram and the Thickle-Berry trees you'll be happy as flying halibut swimming in a strawberry breeze ~ If you just skip to be skimping on dust to kill bed bugs -n- fleas & Never skip away skimping from these Blue Mppteeezzz.Victron - 17 Super Novas~ Thanks for Reading - Have an Incredible LIfe! ~

The unit arrived in an Amazon box. Upon opening it I noticed that the actual product box had the shipping address labels for someone else as well as the return shipping label. The product seal tape was cut and resealed. Immediately I wondered if the unit was a refurbished, but looking I had selected new.I will offer a warning. For those getting these refurbished there are the previous owners/testers that will leave the battery charging turned "on". What this does is that when you hook the battery leads up you will get a nice spark. In my case, on this unit, it was turned "off". I still hooked it up to a 12v battery to verify before hooking it to my large battery bank.The unit was properly reset and all looked in good order, so even though it appeared refurbished it was in newish condition. I installed the unit without any issues. You will need the bluetooth pairing code off the side, so photograph it before mounting it in a place that is hard to get to...All of my Victron hardware works fine. It all plays well together. Would not hesitate to purchase again.
