Q: If your child is a 1/2 size - is it best to size up or do these run big?

My son wears a 2 (Nike). I bought him a 2 and 3 (return what didn’t work) and he needs a 1. In the 2 his big toe was barely to wear the white shell toe started.

Q: I am so confused by the sizes?

The shoes run big. Therefore the recommendation is order down. My 5 year old has fat flat feet. At the time we ordered his for school, he wore size 11.5. All of his other shoes I was buying 12 in anticipation of growth. For this purchase, because they run big, I bought 11, thinking they would fit just right. Well, they were too big, even with socks. His he'll would still slip out of the shoe. His teachers discouraged me from trading the sizes and now halfway through the year (his for did grow) they fit better. My advice to those purchasing this show is to go a full size down from where your child is today, e.g - if your child comfortably wears a 10, buy a 9... hope this helps!
