I installed it tonight. At first, I was having trouble with the hood being hard to close. But then I reviewed the...reviews here. And realized that I forgot an important element of the install. If you've read the reviews here you might have run across the idea of installing the big shield tabs BEHIND the gasket.That is, the ticket. I missed that in the directions...they were not super clear, and the illustration is super small.Anyway, I initially removed the plastic gasket pins, and then installed right over the gasket. It totally worked. And yes...the hood was hard to close.So then I read a couple more reviews....saw a video, and realized that the tabs on the bug shield are suppose to be BEHIND the rubber gasket, right up against the steel of the hood. Then the gasket slips over that tab, and the washer and screw secure it together.And...voila. The hood closes perfectly. Perhaps a slight bit harder than without the shield. But not nearly as hard as when I had it installed with the tabs in FRONT of the gasket. This was no good.Behind the gasket all the way. Super easy. Just as easy to install as I did the first time, but with much better results. I feel like a ding dong that I missed that point in the instructions. I will chalk it up to...unclear instructions, and...I had a few beers before installing ;)

I just installed my AVS bug deflector on my 2015 Ford Explorer.I like many have some paint bubbles starting on the hood that Ford does not want to make good on so after doing some touch up paint and then applying a good coat of wax to the hood edge I went to work.All in all, not a bad experience!The deflector came in a box in another box and both boxes looked like they fell off the truck going 90 mph so I was apprehensive that it would be intact.To my surprise it was intact and the parts bag was there as well.I read the instructions and went to work.I would suggest pin removal tool to remove the plastic pins in the part that sits against the metal hood.Once I removed the pins and confirmed the holes were going to match up I went to work installing the bolts to secure the deflector.Once installed the instructions say to turn the hood bumpers up 1.5 times counter clockwise.I tried to close the hood and it would not.I then lowered the hood bumpers and the hood closes like it did before I installed the deflector.I did lower the hood bumpers about a half turn lower than they were prior to installing.I read several posts about the hood not closing and I suspect that due to the instructions being off the hood would not close because it did not for me until I turned them the opposite direction.It took about 15-20 minutes tops to install and that was due to the hood bumpers.I have AVS window vents on my Explorer so everything matches very well!Time will tell if this holds up but, it looks good on the vehicle.

First off, the product didn't arrive on time. It happens, I get it. Amazon was great and very quick to remedy the issue. The product itself seems fine. Its sleek and low profile. My issue is more with the description of the sale and what I expected wasn't what I found. It says on the sale page the product installs using double sided 3m tape, which is fine, but it doesn't say anywhere that it comes included with the sale. So therefore I had purchased 3m, spending another 7 or 8 bucks. The shield comes with the 3m tape already installed on the back, you just need to simply peel the back side of the tape off. Minimal money loss of 7 or 8 bucks, but that small detail would have been nice.My biggest issue is this.. for those that own an Explorer you may know that they all have an issue with paint chipping off the front end of the hood. My reason of buying this product was to cover these paint chips and bubbles in hopes of preserving it a little longer. I was under the impression that this shield would attach underneath the hood, taping itself to the under lip of the front edge, and wrapping up around the front edge, never touching the bubbled paint. Well, this tapes directly onto the front outside edge of the hood, right over top of my paint bubbles. If I ever wanted to remove the shield, the 3m tape is going to rip off all the paint bubbles and strip more of the paint.The description doesn't specifically say how it installs, and the pictures don't show one way or the other. Shields I've dealt with in the past have all attached underneath.For this reason only I will be returning the product. Like I said however, the product itself looks great. I just wish I knew these things before buying, as they don't work for my specific application.

Super easy to put on! Went through car wash a lot and zero problems!! Covers the chips in the paint from rocks and make the car look better!

I had attempted to buy this product from a local auto store last year but the wrong product was in the box i was sold. This one came in quickly and contained instructions, accessories and was packaged well.If you pay attention to the instructions, and have the correct year vehicle, you will have no trouble with this product. Using a #2 phillips screwdriver and a pry tool for the factory clips the install took me less than 10 minutes. Did not change how the hood closes/opens at all.

There was some sort of issue with shipping, so it took an extra 3or 4 days to get here. Not really a problem for us though. Arrived in good shape. I installed it by myself (I'm a 50+ female) without any problem. Well if I could be an inch or two taller it would have helped allot. Anyway... Easy to install, good fit, looks great. It is a little harder to close the hood, but it seems that is too be expected. The hood does still close properly, just have to push down a little harder than before.

Wasn't sure about the fit when this was ordered... I will say it fit perfect, and looked fantastic! Every easy to install.

Delivered on time, well packaged, good instructions and easy to work with.What more could you want!

Arrived on time I easily installed with a little cutting of the flat part of the hood gasket where the tabes are. Good seller, thanks!
