The Other
The Other was always one of my favorite Spider-Man stories. Still is. I loved Peter's new powers and seeing what he would do with them. It's a shame that One More Day took them away. The first 4 chapters of The Other were pretty poorly written. It was like David and Hudlin (especially David) weren't on the same page as JMS. The story was still very good, though, mostly because of JMS' spectacular storytelling.

JMS rules
I haven't read this one yet but I like his other stuff and the previous volumes are shaping up to be really enjoyable (screw the haters, who gives a crap if Spidey got his powers from a mystical spider got thing instead of that silliness about a radioactive arachnid) so I expect I will enjoy most of it as well, until the crappy "One More Day" story that Quesada forced him to write. Screw that guy too.

Hmmm...
So, this is the second Spider-man collection that I picked up by JMS and it really wasn't what I thought it would be. This collection contains The Other story line as well as a fun story involving Spider-man and the New Avengers. The biggest disappointment to me was The Other story. I had much higher expectations for it, especially after reading the last collection by JMS. The story felt choppy and not very linear at times and the artwork varied heavily since the story line ran through ASM, Marvel Knights Spider-man, and Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man. I would have preferred that Mike Deodato illustrate the story in its entirety. Most of the visible emotion of the characters is not fleshed out throughout each book, especially in Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man. Despite the artwork and the cracks in the storytelling between books, the story did have its high points. The best part of The Other story is ASM issue #526 where Spider-man fights Morlun. This is probably one of Spider-man's most gruesome fights. Anyways, this book is worth the buy mainly because it is a status changing event in Spider-man's history, and if you like to have complete collections, then you must purchase this. Also, a lot of people liked the Other story, but one of the main reasons that I didn't like the story was because I was trying to compare it to The Death of Spider-man in Ultimate Spider-man. So, take my comments about the disappointment of The Other story line with a grain of salt. This book is still worth the buy!

Amazing Spider-Man - Ultimate Collection Book 4
Great book! state of the art dialogs, artwork, and storytelling.I would suggest that you ask for multiple packages if you purchase more than just this book, I orderd 4 and they suffered some damages, but nothing major.Good job for Amazon, and GREAT job for Marvel!
