A-M-A-Z-I-N-G product!
What I like:- I would never have thought I would one day be ecstatic about a trash bin but the Ubbi diaper pail is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I qualify it as the Rolls Royce of the diaper pail (and not only because the handle sticks out in a similar way than the "Spirit of Ecstasy"). The design is outstanding, and even award-winning. In fact, I consider it as a decorative object.- The high quality materials make the product look sophisticated in comparison with plastic alternatives.- Thanks to the oval shape of the pail, it fits everywhere in the baby's room.- It can also be qualified as a reliable diaper pail because the powder-coated steel ensures maximum odor control when the lid is closed.- The safety lock is a must for a diaper pail in order to create a childproof environment.- It features a very solid and user-friendly sliding lid.- It holds up to approximately 35 diapers and 150 baby wipes. I recommend not to overfill plastic bags because they can end up being torn apart due to heavy weight.- The purchasing price is pretty high but, in a long run, you are saving money by using regular kitchen trash bags rather than having to buy bloody expensive refills.- You can choose among 13 colors and 5 limited edition patterns. What I dislike- You pay a little extra if you want to have a patterned diaper pail matching the style of your baby's room.- Unpleasant smell can escape when you open the lid to put a new diaper in the pail.

So much better than diaper genie!
We used a diaper genie for my first, in 4 years, we had to replace it 3 times, and that's even with decreased use once he was potty trained. Pull ups at nap and night, so twice a day, and the lid broke. This is sturdy, I do miss the foot pedal, but the slide is easy to use. It can get stinky, but the metal doesn't hold odor, let it air out for a while and it's fine.I keep a charcoal pack on a command strip beside it, but you could just as easily throw one in under the bag.The lock keeps my older son out, he's curious about everything. The size is perfect to fit in between the dresser and wall, and the design is cute!

Keeps the Odor Contained
Ubbi's are a life saver. They hold in the smell completely when closed, and have the lock dial for when your child decides to get curious. I personally prefer the Ubbis bags over regular bags. Regular do fit, but I feel like the Ubbis bags are stronger and easier. A box of them lasted us over a year, emptying at least once a week.

Perfect
I must explain why I'm in love with a trashcan. I purchased this to use for my dog's backyard bombs. I live in a community where you can't leave your large trashcans outside. For those of us with dogs, leaving bombs in our trash cans in our garage is not an option with southern heat. I have this set-up outside our back door and its worked like s charm. It holds a standard bag, which I love. It doesn't need filters, which I really appreciate since I have 2 dogs and it will wear it fast. So far, there has been no smell at all.I love that you can pick a design so it doesn't look like a trashcan. I went with the grey chevron. It's subtle and really dresses it up. The bin is very solid with a good weight. The plastic parts are sturdy and heavier gauge. When you open the lid, there's a second holder that keeps the bag in place and creates a funnel to drop the item to the bag's bottom. When you close the top lid, everything locks in place on its own. The top snaps close to the body of the can. On top, there is a slide door that is super easy. The best feature for me is the little lock on the top. It's a round button, where you twist right to lock and left to unlock. The lock secures the push back handle and the top lid. With the lock in place, kids and pets cannot access the inside bin.I would definitely recommend this unit!!!

Nice, but there's still odors
Overall it's good.Pros: you can use a regular kitchen garbage bags (therefore it's pretty cost-effective), it looks nice with the chevron design, and you can drop the dirty diapers right in (no pushing it through a latch-type entry).Cons: Doesn't lock the smell as well as I'd hoped. It's *mostly* odor-free when closed, but when you open the sliding lid to put a dirty diaper in it will release a terrible odor. And although there is space to hold a ton of diapers, I struggle to get a full bag *out* of it. And hold your breath when you do so.I'd recommend it, as long as you know what you're getting. Scented garbage bags help too. And really I doubt any diaper pail is truly odor free!

Top notch item
Now that baby is 10 days old and has had a few MESSY diapers, I feel I can write a proper review. Easy enough to use. No assembly required. Matches the nursery decor. We use standard kitchen trash bags with no problem. Today was the first day we changed the bag, and that was for sanitary reasons (real or imagined). It stinks to high heaven when open, but when closed you smell NOTHING. There wasn't even any lingering odors. I remember a couple of babies back I was gifted the Diaper Genie and I eventually threw the whole thing in the dumpster... the smells, mold, MAGGOTS...but this product has gotten it right. Ubbi is EXTRAORDINARY.UPDATE: Baby is now 10 months old and this still works like a charm. Now that he is on solids, he has stinkier poo, but sometimes I sprinkle a little baking soda and tea tree oil or peppermint after we've emptied it out and let it air out for a couple of hours in the garage; or even better, we've just started going old school and emptying flushable poo down the toilet before disposing the diaper in the Ubbi. Doing that has eliminated MOST smells. Still great, still can't live without it.
