Mermaid Cane w/ Solid Brass Handle ~ Walking Stick

1. Just received the cane. Three days early. In time for my P.T. to approve it's use, with modifications. The shaft is to long so we need to saw two inches off the bottom.2. To review Shawn Thomas: Thank you for your review, even though you had a negative experience. You wrote how your, "Brass Mermaid was not snugly attached to the cane. Within two weeks, the cane snapped and broke in a splintered fashion." This supplied me with two piece of information I found quite helpful. as well as cementing my determination to get this cane.First, since the cane splintered it tells me that the shaft was made of a solid fiber. Hopefully wood. t appears to be bamboo which is hard, stronger, and more flexible than wood.Secondly, though I am sorry about your fall, your review made me aware to check the attachment of my handle when it arrived. YOU WERE SO RIGHT. My handle was also a half turn loose, which I did correct.So my negative to the manufacturer and marketer. For the safety of the public, and avoid a class action lawsuit, you should, even must, include with the cane a security correction package.The package should include an instruction sheet to before using give the handle a clockwise turn until the handle is snug. Under the advisement of my P.T. and O.T. a lock washer, suitable to fit around the thread shaft, be included to bite into the wood and prevent back spin of the brass handle. Which could cause loosening, product damage, customer injury, and litigation.For the sake of a washer the war was lost.

I am not sure how this works as a cane, but it looks great. The wood is well finished and strong. The casting is detailed, polished and heavy. Really great looking stick for the money. I am part of a boating community with a Mermaid/merman theme and this is just the ticket.

This cane is gorgeous! The price was amazing. I've seen them on other sites for two to three times higher. It is very well made. Another reviewer commented that the mermaid handle was loose. Mine was loose too when I received it. It took me three seconds to twist it to make it solid and secure (and I'm a sixty three year old female senior with arthritis). If you want a seriously gorgeous, well-made cane, this is the one to buy.

I decided to return this cane within 3 minutes after receiving it. After unwrapping the packing material, I discovered that the brass handle was abraded in several places. Those abrasions revealed a gray metallic material underneath. Now, if you abrade or scratch a piece of solid brass, do you know what you are supposed to see underneath? That's right, brass. That's not what I saw with this cane. The handle on this cane is obviously brass-plated, NOT solid brass as the product description says. I have to say, the mermaid handle was really attractive, and I seriously wanted to keep it. But in the end I could not see keeping an object I was intending to use on a weekly basis and have the the handle continue to shed brass plate into the palm of my hand.

I was eager to receive my cane with the brass mermaid. First of all, the brass mermaid was not snugly attaced to the cane. Within two weeks, the cane snapped and broke in a splintered fashion. This created a challenge for me as I was travelling alone and was at the mercy of stangers to assist me until I bought another cane at a pharmacy. It seemed as is the wood used was inappropriate and the workmanship was inadequate. I was able to pry off the brass mermaid to put to some other use.

It’s built solid. Wore for a themed party and the weight and feel of it was legitimate. The top is metal and the cane is wood.

Curious cane which drives crazy men all around. Not the best to handle but quite adapted to walk. Diameter of stick 2mm too large. Sometimes j put fingers on tits of mermaid.
