As mentioned, I needed locks that locked from either side of the swimming pool gates for safety and security.Our posts are hollow plastic with aluminum inside for strength so the job of retrofitting the new locks was a little challenging but ended up fun and rewarding.Installed at the end of our swimming season, the locks have only seen limited use, but three months later with limited use they seem to be working just fine.

I've used many D&D Technologies LokkLatch products (for wood gates with wood posts and wood gates with metal posts), and these are HANDS DOWN, the best double-sided locks and automatic closing hinges out there. The company warranty is lifetime, and they stand by it!

This lock is well built. It worked in a tight fit where many others would not. It is lockable on both sides and the latching mechanism works flawlessly. I haver every reason to believe that is lock will work for a long time. It was by far not the cheapest, but well worth the money once I installed it.

I bought a previous product from the same companies with really poor design, but this is quite a major improvement. Both side of the locks now unlocks the gate, regardless of whether the other side is unlocked or not. One thing I worry about is whether the middle rod that turns the lock will last for a long time, given that it’s just a flimsy piece of plastic. I suspect that they give an extra rod is meant for contingency in event that the rod breaks.

Purchase this to install on a new patio fence and gate. Seemed a good option instead of installing a standard deadbolt. The installation was pretty straight forward and the instructions were clear. Then it goes downhill from there.There are two ways to lock/unlock this unit. The first is from what would be the inside of the patio fence. You insert and turn the key and it releases the gate latch so you can open the gate. From the outside of the gate there is a spring loaded button with a key slot. You insert the key, turn it to the unlock position and push. This releases the gate latch. After around three weeks this part of the lock failed. I was no longer able to lock it from the outside. Turning the key would not engage the locking mechanism even though I could still lock it from the inside.I contacted D&D and they got back to me fairly quickly and said they would ship me a replacement. A shipping label would be included so I can ship the old one back to them.So I received the replacement lock and installed it. Has not even been a week and again, the outside locking mechanism has failed. Only sometimes if a jiggle that key/button for a few minutes can I get it to lock. But for the most part it will not lock. Now this is meant for outdoor use and we have had allot of rain. It seems to me the internal mechanism/spring is sticking and not functioning correctly.So two installed........two that failed after a short period of time. Unfortunately my gate post is already drilled out for this unit, so may have to try a third time.Bottom line, poor design. Poor quality.Update 06/16/20Seems the lock is working fine now that it is dry. We went through allot of consecutive days of rain here in Florida and when the lock is wet, that is when I had issues. Looks like they are sending me another replacement. So no complaints about their customer service.Update 07/16/20The issues continued whenever it rained and the lock got wet. The lock would not engage. Once dry it worked. They did send me a third one. This one was an upgraded version that uses a standard size key, not the cheap type that comes with this model. This new one they sent was is slightly bigger but only couple extra holes needed to install. So far this so good. Even though the push button/lock still seems very flimsy, it had locked every time.

Super easy to install. Excellent operation however after a few locking and unlocking repetitions, the locking became more difficult. Keys are fairly flimsy and bend easily.

Can not lock gate from inside with key .I called D&D customer service and they said it should work. It doesn’t after 2 hrs of my handy mans skilled work, it can not be locked and opened from the insideContacted D&D 8/27They are sending me two locks to try , they think it could be rod was not positioned correctly by handyman. Will have handyman come out and give update.CS response is quick and helpful.9/14/20Ian from CS sent us two new looks to try. When we reviewed the placement of the rod, we retried cutting the second rod that is included in package. Bingo. The lokk latch plus worked like a charm. No need to replace the one I purchased.Extremely happy with the prompt CS action of Ian of DD and his courteous attention to my initial frustration.There by I changed my rating from a 1star to a 5 starThank you.

installation was not bad. had to read instructions a couple times but it was not bad. Took about two hours. It locked and functioned easily. the gap between the gates was larger than the 1 1/8 in recommended but overcame issues by adding a 3/8 shim to the clasp side. Closes and operates easily.
