HJC CL-17 Solid Matte Black Helmet size Large

Rather than write a long drawn out post that no one will read, I will simply point out what I liked and didn't like.LIKES:- 140 dollar snell rated helmet, incredible value for money.- Very comfortable padding.- Decent quality colored visor options.- Locking visor.- HJC logo comes off (it's a sticker).- Top air vents operable with gloves on.- Very sturdy chin strap, lots of padding on it too.- Lots of visor positions.- Left side visor tab(versus middle on some, yuck). Operable with non-throttle hand.- Comes with breath box.- Metal mesh exhaust vents.DISLIKES:- Scratches very easily (matte version)- Bottom vent difficult to operate with gloves on.- No chin curtain.- Inside chin has space and Velcro for extra padding, but is not supplied with the helmet.- Due to lack of chin curtain and chin padding, wind gets up in there. Nice on hot days, really bad on cold ones.

A perfect first helmet. This is not a $600 Shoi helmet. It is not made of super light carbon fiber. You will want earplugs if you're riding at interstate speeds for more than a few minutes.What this is is a great all around helmet, and a perfect starter helmet. It is a great price, and offers stellar protection. DOT and SNELL rated. Comfort is great for the price point (or even helmets that cost twice as much). Vents provide good air flow, although at speeds they can increase that wind noise I talked about before.All in all, if the choice is "What helmet should I get?" the CL-17 should be on the short list. If the choice is "I have $600+ should I get the CL-17 or a more expensive Shoi, Aria, etc helmet?" then I would say shop around. Those may be worth the extra money for the comfort, although protection should be almost the same. HJC is great at making higher tier helmets for half the price.

Works well for my head size/shape. I have a more rounded head and read the CL-17 is a better fit. The price is great for having SNELL and DOT ratings. Only thing I can gripe on is the echo inside. I have to wear ear plugs to eliminate the wind howl/exhaust drone. Was able to route and connect my Scala G4 headset easily by removing the pads. Has an option for chin block but was not included. I will look into it for cooler weather riding.

Purchased this helmet to replace an older HJC full face model. The helmet fit great with the exception of the cheek pads. I wore it a few times to see if they would "break in" but they did not. It always felt extremely tight on my face. I ordered the next size up on cheek pads, pulled the old ones and installed the new ones. Feels like a different helmet. No more excessively tight feeling in the cheek area. Ventilation works great. The shield is a little tough to open and close but doesn't bother me. Overall a great product for a reasonable price.

Arrived super fast and we'll packaged. The shield is so clear I forgot it was down. It moves up and down with a sense of purpose, and does not fog up. Right out the box it feels a little snug, but comfortable and safe. Light weight, good vision, very quiet. My family depends on me, so I depend on this helmet, and I feel like I made a good investment.

Cheapest Snell approved helmet I could find. Comfortable inside but the shell feels a bit bulky. Feels a little noisy but the other 2 I tried were both cheaper and similar wind noise. If your on a budget then I recommend this.

Great value for money, well made. Bit noisy, has air leaks. In retrospective, would have spent more and bought a better helmet.

This is my first helmet and I purchased it for my Basic Rider’s Course and it feels amazing. This helmet feels like it would protect your head in an accident. I would recommend this helmet to anyone who needs a safe DOT helmet. It’s SNELL approved too which is a plus!
