The best here in the USA, point.
I tried many competitors, but this brand is the one. It works all the time, no matter what milk you use (grass fed, non homogenized and whole is the best though). This ferment will help you to obtain the closest product to the French supermarket creme fraiche. At home though, we just use the real cream that naturally separates itself from the milk...but it means you need a farm around with cows, just like in the good old times, but in the USA, even though, there is little chance that a farmer wells you a gallon of untreated milk unfortunately...so yes, this is THE perfect texture and the taste is ok. They deliver promptly, in an insulated envelop for preservation.Instructions are easy to follow and they are accurate. You just need eventually a thermometer.

Worked great!!!
Product arrived in excellent condition. Placed in freezer until ready to use. Used regular pasteurized, not ultra pasteurized half and half from Safeway, 'Lucerne'. Heated per instructions until it reached 86°F on a digital instant read thermometer. Set aside for 11 hours in a kitchen that is moderately warm. Resulting product was completely set. Chilled overnight in refrigerator. The taste is equal to or better than what is available in the stores, if you can find it. I live in a food desert and my ONLY option is to make my own. Will definitely purchase again!!! Very satisfied.

Great Ceme Fraiche starter.
Got this to make my own Creme Fraiche for a family dinner. Made canape's with it and caviar on toasted sliced light bread and it was great. Had no problems with it thickening using Ultra pastureized light cream. Follow directions, that is all. Started it the day before I needed it and let it sit for about 16 hours to harden/thicken and then put it in a drain bag and then refridgerated it. I did add a light dusting of salt otherwise no other flavoring or additions. Didnt really need the salt as the caviar had plenty but using creme fraiche on some other items such as baked potatoes and on green vegetables and it was perfect. It is worth taking your time and following the directions. Dont rush it.

Don't let a loosely fermented product fool you
I discovered my creme fraiche packets in the mailbox which was concerning since the packets clearly state they should be frozen. Nevertheless, I attempted to make creme fraiche. I didn't quite follow the directions, I used heavy cream and I believe the directions called for half and half or cream as a base. It let it sit for a couple of days and thought the cream and cultures didn't ferment. I put it in the fridge anyway, and the next day, I had thick cream fraiche! I will buy this again because the taste is different than what you would get if you mixed buttermilk with the heavy cream.

Quick Service from NE Cheese
Have not had a chance to use the culture but it is in my freezer as instructed by the seller. The packets were sent directly from the company and arrived three days after I ordered it. They do not want their product sitting a an Amazon warehouse because they want to ensure the consumer receives a fresh and quality product. Their website indicates they want their product to get to the customer quickly and they fulfilled that goal. Looking forward to making my first batch.

Super product!
Makes a delicious crème fraiche at a small fraction of the ridiculous supermarket price. Keeps at least 3weeks in the refrigerator.I make one batch using one quart of heavy cream plus one pint of whole milk. Many uses-serve with desserts, making Mac & cheese, baking bread, muffins, etc, cream soups. Make a batch and start experimenting!
