POOR INSTALLALATION INSTRUCTIONS
Very disappointed on the installation instructions from a large US company. the instruction look as from something from a China product. The measure diagram so confusing, as it indicating two shaft diameter, not depth measurement. How do you measure pinion gear distance with starter mounted ,and no visible access? The flex-clock arrived mounted uneven, while stress the importance of parallel alignment, no blue Loctite was used in my starter the screws were loose.. The new starter mount is much thicker than the factory starter, cause the bolt to be 1/4 inch short. If you rotate the mount just few degree the mounting bolt will not fit in the starter mounting hole. For a starter cost almost $200 it should come with a pre-fab short jumper wire. Yes the starter works good for my purpose, it solve the heat soak hot starting problem I had. If you decided to purchase this started I suggest you use a Play-Doh on the pinion gear to measure the distance. Double check the flex-clocknm screws for blue Loctite. I will un-install my starter later on, to double check the wear on the pinion gear see if I need to install the shim plated. (see my simple diagram)

So far so good
I bought this starter because I bought a cheaper starter that ruined my flywheel. I also bought a new lightweight flywheel. This starter seems much better so far. I like how it turns faster than a factory starter (the cheap starter turned slower than a factory starter). I will update this post in a few months or if it goes bad.

Looks tough. Sounds tough.
So far, amazing! It was a little larger than I was expecting and took a bit to get it setup correctly to fit my application (Ford 4.9L I6 with Clifford Performance headers) and once I got it where it needed to be, the motor housing was blocking one of the mounting holes. That required me to take it back out, loosen the InfiniClock adjustment ring again, turn the mounting plate, install the lower mounting bolt and set it up again. I had marked the final position with a Sharpie, though, which made it a little easier. I like the way this thing sounds -- it sounds powerful. Everything I read about this before purchase stated that heat soak was not an issue. There is very minimal clearance with my headers (approx 1/4") so time will tell. So far, though, pretty impressed.

even sounds kinda cool starting up
I purchased this for my 1991 f150 302 with headers. Fit perfectly, even sounds kinda cool starting up. Lots of power, turns the engine much faster than stock.Reason for 3 stars is after I had it on a few weeks weeks (this is my 3rd car by the way, not much use) I heard a horrible sound on the highway and pulled over. After some serious time under the truck on the side of the highway, found the cog wheel had flew off the starter and went into my tranny!!! I unbolted it and zip tied to the frame, had my wife come by and pull started the truck with the suv.Amazon sent me another and it has been fine for several weeks now. Works well. Took awhile to get the chunks out of the bellhousing but all good now thank God, no damage as far as I can find. I'll chock it up to a fluke since this is a well respected name.

Old starter solenoid was sitting on the header flange and would get to warm to crank no problem with the powermaster
