2HP Control Box for Deep Well Pump. Compatible Replacement for Franklin Part# 2823018110

At first I had reservations about buying this pump control box due to it's low price. You cannot go to Home Depot or Tractor Supply and a buy a 2 hp control box. I needed the box ASAP due to a mouse getting into the Franklin box and shorting out the controller and burning it up.OverviewThe box is a painted steel box with steel latch and continuous o-ring seal and is IP54 rated. This rating means it is both impervious to water and dust so it will take a direct hit from rain or a stream of water should a like break. The Franklin is would be a IP rating of 21 or so, in other words the Franklin box is a sieve. The run capacitor is 20uF (40 would be better) and the start capacitor is 120 uF. There are two over load breakers with rubberized seals (IP54) the main breaker is 15 amps and the start is 9 amps. There are two 3/4" knock out holes on the bottom of the box with temporary plugs. There are three mounting tabs that are keyed and can be rotated to allow the mounting points to be hidden and allow the box to be lifted off or the side tabs can be rotated out as I did and be secured so the box does not lift off. Overall the build quality is quite good and the wiring is completely accessible when mounted unlike the larger Franklin unit.What is not so hotThe paint scratched very easily when I tightened the seal tight fittings.The 3/4" knockout holes are too close together. I had to purchase different seal tight fittings as two straight seal tight fittings will not fit side by side.Shipping: I paid the $40+ shipping 1-2 day shipping not realizing the part comes from Canada through Postal Canada. I ordered late Wednesday night after hours and expected the package by Friday or Saturday as per my usual Amazon Prime orders but because this is an international order it came Monday which is still fast service but not as fast as I have gotten used to from Amazon.In my limited experience with this control box I feel it is a better designed product than the Franklin unit (not saying better electrical components) that had kept going 10 plus years until a mouse killed it. By the looks of the item I would guess it is made in China, though there is no country of origin sticker and no NSF, UL, CE, or CSA markings either. My well is working and I saved quite a bit of money so I am happy.

My 2hp well pump stopped working a while back, and it feeds hydrants all over our property. I swapped a couple of capacitors out and still had no luck, and voltage wasn’t getting to the pump, so it was either a bad panel or a huge short in the pump. I said a little prayer and ordered this bad boy, hoping not to break the bank on what I assumed would be a costly repair (was quoted at $700 to replace the panel). Well, this thing installed like a breeze, seems well made, and was a slight upgrade from the rusty Franklin box it replaced. Well worth every penny, worked like a charm.

Gasket-sealed, metal case. Much superior to the original Frankin.DIN rail connectors.Using DIN rail allows for options like an in-box circuit breaker/disconnect, I would like to see Tuhorse offer these options themselves, so that the buyer would know they are getting the right device. The one I referenced here may or may not fit - I have not checked dimensions. For now, I just put a 20A double-pole switch in there to meet my need for a disconnect at the box.You could drop in a DIN-mount double-pole relay if you need low-voltage feed from a distant pressure switch. Great an the seller is great to work with as well

This box looks great from the outside, it feels sturdy and robust like a quality product should. The terminal casings is another matter totally. Very flimsyWith little or no consideration for actually working in the box, with wires, pliers, fingers, knuckles and screw drivers etc. I love to look at this beautiful box, but every time I look, my joys are tempered with concerns for safety and are the wires going to be shorting out due to poorly designed and poor quality innerds? This is a real issue. Maybe the manufacturer should consider putting some of the sturdiness and functionality on the inside of this product as well.

For well contractors, this is the BEST control box! It's a bit more compact than the standard Franklin. The components inside are fitted very well and capacitor microfarad values are visible without having to disassemble.

Junk. Pump pulls 16amps on l1 and only 6 on l2. Replaced with a Grundfos control box and running amps are spread evenly on both legs. Also. Buy a deluxe box and save your pressure switch the abuse.

I purchased a property with a well. No pump. Local company installed the pump and a NON-Waterproof controller box. I installed it myself in minutes and it works flawlessly.
