My grandkids (8 ranging in age from 16-3) all love to battle with these. SO far no one has been injured. They love to beat up on grandpa or their parents in a battle. There is a hollow plastic tube that runs from the handle to about an inch from the tip of the blade. After almost a year of pounding with these swords, two of the handles snapped off. A little hot glue and duct tape and they were battle ready again. I've bought other swords which were more decorative, and study but they hurt when swung with the power of some of my g-kids! The little kids (3, 4, 5, & 7) love these and love beating up on their older cousins ( 16, 15, 14, 13 - who we only see a few times a year). You'll need a battle area (outside in warm weather) that is free of lamps or other objects that can be knocked over. Prepare for fun!

I originally bought the Nerf-type swords sold at Walmart. However, those have plastic cores and a hard plastic end. These are solid foam and very durable. They won't leave a mark on you, your walls, your furniture, or anywhere else. And best of all, you and the kids will have many epic battles!!
