Great Book to Prepare for Obstacle Races or Other Similar Events
The Essentials of Obstacle Race Training is broken up into 4 different parts; Part 1: Basics of Obstacle Racing, Part 2: Obstacle Race Training Exercises, Part 3: Workouts and Training Plans and Part 4: Preparing for your race. Part 1 goes over topics such as benefits of obstacle race training, training your body, gear recommendations and fueling for training and racing. Pat 2 covers topics such as endurance, mobility and balance and power and strength. Part 3 covers topics such as workouts and training plans and part 4 covers topics such as choosing the right race, injury prevention and management and mental training and preparation.Each chapter also has a variety of different pictures and illustrations that are very useful, especially in chapters covering topics such as gear recommendations and workouts and training plans. Overall I think it is an excellent book for anyone who is preparing to participate in any type of obstacle race or similar event.I was sent a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Excellent overview of the different types of exercises and a ...
I'm extremely impressed with this book. It encompasses a whole lot of subjects and condenses it toward it's goal. There are running training programs which is my weakest area although I've run several 5K distance races, a couple mud runs, and a half marathon. I'm an avid weight lifter and power lifter and found all the information in this book to be accurate and well thought out. Excellent overview of the different types of exercises and a nice plan for fitting all the elements together. I like to lift weights more so than run, but I think there's enough flexibility in this book to allow me to continue to do so by slightly tweaking the strength workouts. The authors did an exceptional job.

This book was awesome, even if one is not planning on training ...
This book was awesome, even if one is not planning on training for an obstacle course. It has so much information, it just begs for its own spot on the home library reference shelf - with lots of bookmarks sticking out of it. Gender neutral, it features both sexes...lots of exercises, lots of great pictures, lots of side information on how the body uses/consumes energy during the different activities, which muscles are being used...just soo much information.

Don’t assume your regular workout routine is enough to get you over the finish line. Get this book.
This book is exactly what I needed for my OCR. It’s broken up into digestible sections, and provides advice and training that I can use in my OCR and my every day running and strength training. Super happy with this purchase, and highly recommend it. Don’t assume your regular running & lifting routine is enough to get you over the finish line. Get this book and follow David’s advice.
