Read it again!
In this rough world that is so globally in trouble this book comes as a welcome reprieve. Sentimental and heartfelt but not overly so by any means. A good testament to what is basic and true.

A wonderful book
I read this book when I was 10 years old. I loved it and never forgot it. It was so thrilling to me that Kindle brought it back again. I enjoyed reading it again so very much. Great stories in it and it is a biography. It is truly a classic.

Rereading a classic!
I first read this book as a teenager, decades ago. It didn’t leave a strong impression on me. Francie’s life was very different from mine, and it was hard to appreciate the story. It showed up recently on a list of “must read in your lifetime” books and I decided to give it another shot. I’m now in reading this as a senior citizen. I thoroughly enjoyed it this time around, and had trouble putting it down. Betty Smith’s writing style was flowing and engaging. The story was brought to life in the context of the pre-WWI reality in NY. The interesting characters, the strong family ties, the determination and grit of Francie and her family assured the reader that this book is one to remember.

loved it as a young girl, and still do
I remember loving this book when I was young and impressionable (it was already a “classic” at that time). Just finished re-reading it decades later and am so impressed by how it stands the test of time.

Classic for all ages
A heart piercing story of hardship love and growing up. I hope this generation of video games and streaming will understand the reality and depth of this classic story.

a perfect book.
Very well written, crossing multiple years, generations and true to life’s hardships and small joys. Descriptive about the impact poverty had at a time of no social networks, how people coped, did what they had to do to survive.

Love this book
Of the 3 books that she wrote this is my favorite. It's one that I can come back to over and over again. I highly recommend it.

Required reading by my teacher, Mr Tackett. Loved reading. I had to reread to remember the good times. Good read.
