Moonlight Slumber Little Dreamer Crib Mattress - Dual-Sided Baby & Toddler

As first time parents, we spent a lot of time researching every single product a parent might buy for their new baby. One of the toughest products for us to decide upon was the best mattress for our soon to be born baby boy. So many differing opinions on the necessary firmness, the best materials, foam vs spring, etc. We spent weeks struggling with this decision. After all, apart from maybe the choice of car seat, this is probably the second most important product category in terms of infant and toddler safety. I read through countless hundreds of reviews, spent time examining and measuring dozens of different mattresses in stores. But with so much conflicting information, it was still hard to make a decision. I really wanted to go with the Colgate Classica I, one of the more popular choices at the moment and one of the recommendations in the book Baby Bargains, an excellent guide for parents-to-be. However, there are lots of conflicting reviews as to whether the Classica is actually TOO firm. After testing it out in person, I happen to agree with this. The Classica is the firmest mattress I found anywhere by leaps and bounds, to the point where I felt sure that it would be uncomfortably hard. After giving up on that idea, I found this Moonlight Slumber Little Dreamer to be my next choice. I liked the idea of a company founded with the sole focus of creating the best possible crib mattress. Furthermore, it has the added benefits of being made of top quality, eco-friendly materials. No worries about chemicals or low grade materials, as this product is built and designed right here in the United States out of medical grade foam. We wanted foam over spring, as foam is significantly lighter in weight, which aids in those late night sheet changes. The dual sided densities are an excellent feature. To me, the firmest side feels like the absolute perfect level of firmness for a newborn/infant. Its very firm to the point where it feels certain to be safe, but with just the slightest bit of give to feel like it will still be somewhat comfortable. The slightly less firm side is still plenty firm, but with a little extra give for when your baby gets older. I also love the fact that the mattress is side stitched. This is a feature that never would have even crossed my mind when I first started looking. Instead of the standard construction where the seems of the mattress are bonded around the top edges of the mattress, the seams on the Little Dreamer are around the middle of the sides, one long continuous seam around the entire circumference, bonded together in a way where they are almost completely flat. This means if something spills on the cover, or if the baby has an accident, there are no crevices for anything to get trapped, and no space for mold to grow. The cover is also water resistant so nothing gets soaked into the mattress. Also, for anyone looking, we are using this mattress in the Babyletto Hudson crib, and it is a perfect snug fit. The corners are very square and it perfectly fits our crib, no unsafe gaps. We love the crib too, apart from one issue with a piece that was drilled incorrectly (replaced quickly by Amazon) it is absolutely wonderful. You can read my review about it on the product page. I realize there are many cheaper options out there, but this is one product where I feel justified in spending a little extra to get something as high quality as this mattress. Buy it and never look back, you won't regret it.

The best mattress! I have the mini crib size and as I was moving my son into his full size crib, I thought I’d save some money and get a big name mattress for half the cost. What a mistake - this has excellent firmness for a baby, it’s completely silent - no rustling when laying down or turning. Zero smell and great support. Well worth the investment! It expands right before your eyes and takes shape quickly. Any wrinkles smooth out in time. Very happy with this!

After much consideration and research, this is the crib mattress I felt best met all my needs. The first time I ordered it, the order processed and I received tracking information on it as is typical for amazon orders. I checked in on the status when I did not receive it on the scheduled day only to find the tracking info hadn't been updated since it first processed. I contacted Amazon and they said it would arrive by the end of the week. It still didn't arrive, and I received an email stating the order had been cancelled and my credit card refunded as the product was undeliverable. Amazon said, to order it again. I did so, and the same thing happened, but this time I waited 2 weeks and still did not receive the product. I had to cancel the order this time on my own. I still wanted this mattress so ordered it from Right Start ( at $20 cheaper and with free shipping!) and low and behold, it took 5 days for me to receive! The mattress itself is perfect! It fits tightly in my baby mod parklane crib with no gaps. I like the option of dual sides. It is comfortably firm and does not have too much give like so many other crib mattresses have. (Go to Babies R US and squeeze the mattresses between your hands. You'll see what I'm talking about.) Also this mattress in non toxic. It gives off no smell whatsoever. I feel perfectly safe using it for my baby.

I highly recommend this mattress. Both of our babies slept on this mattress, and now our older toddler graduated to the full mattress. It’s comfortable, they sleep well and the best part is how easily it cleans! No stains or smells. Looks brand new still after almost 4 years and some accidents.

I have to share my story with everyone as I can not say how amazing Moonlight Slumber is as a product and as a company. As a product, they are so highly reviewed, everything is natrual and made to cater to today's world of safe and high quality materials for the mattress. That is what drew us their product versus the competition. But like all expecting parents, nothing is harder than researching the perfect mattress for your baby. We went through SO MANY reviews and possibilities and thought we found it. And then the unthinkable happened, we bought a crib, got the mattress and the mattress was too short! They say it HAS to be a tight fit. And we found out it wasn't the mattress (we looked at so many different specs) and the crib was 53" long! No mattress fitted it. We looked and looked for a new mattress and finally we ended up on the Moonlight Slumber website and saw they make "custom sizes". We immediately e-mailed them willing (and expecting) to pay $$$$ and having to go through the hassle of returning the old one to Amazon - but we didn't want a subpar awful replacement. Art and Christy at Moonlight Slumber were incredible. They asked me the exact specifications of our stupid crib (Walmart - Brookline, looks beautiful, great price but this 53" thing is not good!!) and within a week, made us a BRAND NEW CUSTOM size mattress, asked for my address and shipped it UPS. Not only that but they PREPAID for a return label! And extra thank you as we were on vacation and missed the shipment and it got returned and they sent it back again at no cost. Just incredible, nice, amazing and saved my wife and I from having one of those frustrating arguments about baby furniture (which I am sure we will have more of). And with all the money parents spend on their baby and frustrations they go through - this was a breath of fresh air and so unexpected kindness that the world has to know. Thank you again! Very nice mattress. High quality, fit perfectly in our grandchild’s baby crib. Was compressed in the package and expanded just like it was supposed to. It was perfect and I would highly recommend it. So why did I only give it “4” stars? The box arrived totally damaged. The Amazon driver positioned it on our doorstep, for the delivery picture, as if it was perfect, disguising the damaged side. Take a look at the pictures to see how it really arrived. This was supposed to be a gift. I could never have used this box as a gift. I can’t believe Moonlight Slumber would ship this from their warehouse like this. Perhaps Amazon damaged it in transit. I just don’t know, but this was ridiculous that “someone” let this move forward. To spend $200 for a nice product like this and receive it in a severely damaged box is maddening. Luckily the inner wrap of the mattress was very good and there was no damage to the actual mattress. Hopefully my shipment was just a fluke but the quality control process was lacking. If you are giving this as a baby shower gift … be prepared.

This is the best mattress. My baby refused to sleep on two other mattresses. I got her this one and she slept through the night! 10 months later still loving it! Best purchase.

We looked at many beds and decided to buy this. The quality and hardness are very good, it was perfect for our bed and we liked it very much.
