I had bought this item 2 years ago for use with an outdoor fish pond. It had become brittle and cracked so I had to replace it. This is a slightly different version of the product. It seems slightly more flexible and maybe a bit thicker. I was able to install it on the pump connector very easily, which was a pleasant surprise. No struggling or heating necessary as I recall from the last time.

We love this tubing; it's heavy duty material doesn't crack like the cheap tube I purchased in a brick and morter home improvement store. I needed 1 and 1/4 tubing for an added pump to handle a small waterfall in a pinch last year when I put my water feature in. That tubing had a thin but hard feel which felt like it could easily crack. It did. This is the tubing I have in the other parts of my water fountain/pond and it holds up well. A plumber told us to use a hot gun and liquid soap to get it to fit to the adaptor pieces otherwise it wont get on. I carefully heated the end to slip on to the junction piece used a bit of the soap and it worked. The first time I tried it was frustrating but you can cut a small piece of the tubing and practice with the heat gun and getting it more pliable to slip on to the adaptor piece but avoiding to melt a holein the tube. The goldilocks principle applies. The dish soap helped slip the tube on easily, then we clamped the tube to secure it to the adaptor or to the pump itself. That heat gun tip was key to getting this thing to fit without doing crazy things. That tip should be provided with installation instructions. Main point is, this tubing will work, just get the right size. Are you looking for the internal demension or external tube dimension? Good luck!

some people might not like this pipe / hose for outdoor use as it appears to be a heavy vinyl with reinforcing ribbing. I'm using this on my 210 gallon aquarium with 1-1/4 plumbing throughout. I find it a good value for me as it will never see the sun / UV nor harsh weather. I can bend the hose and it will not collapse with about a 8-in diameter loop maybe a little bit more. the hose went easily over the inch and a quarter barbs on the canister filter and the pump as I suspect the hose and those barbs might be a metric equivalent to 1-1/4. when it came to the 1-1/4" Barb to NPT/slip schedule 40/plumbing I could not get this hose to go more than a quarter inch onto the Barb. Boiling water on the end of the hose for a couple of minutes did not improve the situation. What worked is using a heat gun and heating the last two inches of this hose and sliding it on to the Barb not pushing the hose, but more pulling I.E gripping the hot part that you just heated. After using the heat gun if you tried to push it on the warmed up plastic vinyl it will just collapse and not go on the Barb, that's why you have to grasp the hot portion and slide it on

1 1/4 ". Perfect. Good quality and flexibility. Just wet the fitting and the inside of the hose and it will slide on the fitting with no effort.

This tubing is tough and pliable. I had to cut length and it wasn't easy like most plastic. Very good product that I am sure will last
