Can we plug the mic to a computer?

Yeah my brother has this paired with the focusrite solo, Which has a usb connector you put into your pc. You plug your xlr into it and con monitor it directly with gain, and it's good if you plan on upgrading from this mic in the future.

IS this made of cheap plastic that will strip easily?

We actually used ours for a music video but the quality of the microphone was great! I didn't see it as cheap at all, and not plastic!
