Awesome generator for the price. Runs smooth, generates exactly as advertised. You can't beat this for the price. Comes with electric start, dual fuel and 2 phase (120v/240v) so you can wire directly to your main panel and power your whole house directly from your panel box. Love it!

I've only run this for less than an hour, but it gives all appearances of a well crafted product. The manual is clear and written in easy to understand English instead of some poor translation. It started easily with the electric start. One recommendation for WEN is that they charge a dollar more and include a long spout funnel. The filling opening is very difficult to access otherwise. I made a run to the local building supply to get a funnel and filled it with oil without spilling a drop. A recommendation for purchasers is that you get that funnel and also pick up a magnetic tip dipstick. In the first few minutes of running, it scavenged up several small filings that are product of the break-in process, that would have remained in the oil to act as abrasives otherwise. Five stars for now. Subject to change as the product gets used.

In our small town, we usually have several power outages during the year, particularly in the winter months after an ice storm and during the spring after severe thunderstorms. Sometimes these outages last from one to four days.I had an electrician install an interlock box with a L14 30R plug. During a power outage, I plug the WEN 475T generator into the L14 30R plug, start the generator and we have plenty of power in our entire house to run two refrigerators, a microwave, TV, computers, and every light in the house including the central heating system during the winter.During a power outage, we only have to refrain from using any appliance that requires 220W, i.e, central air conditioner, the clothes dryer, and kitchen stove and oven. Other than that, it's life as normal when the power is out; and, the WEN 475T is able to generate plenty of power.I purchased two 40lb propane bottles to power the generator. Having the option of running the 475T on propane is a huge PLUS! First, I don't have to worry about having to rely on gasoline going bad (propane will last forever); and second, even on the coldest days the 475T starts immediately. The electric start is a huge benefit! From our experience, a 40lb bottle of propane will run the 475T for almost 27-hours.Overall, we are most satisfied with the performance of this product. One suggestion; however, we opted to use the recommended 5W 30 synthetic oil in this unit to allow operation in the freezing cold to 100 degree days. Also, the WEN 475 is an extremely dependable generator that has not failed to satisfy our needs. During a power outage while our neighbors are sitting in the dark, we are able to power our entire home.UPDATE: March 2026Now; after two years of use, this generator continues to exceed expectations. In January of this year, we had to rely on this generator during a power outage caused by an ice storm when temperatures dipped below -4 degrees. The electric start was not operational due to a dead battery caused by the bitter cold; however, with only two pulls of the rope start, this generator fired up quickly. We have used only propane to fuel this unit and it starts so quickly with very little effort. We had plenty of power from the WEN 475 for every light in the house, two refrigerators, microwave, computers, TV, and our natural gas central air home furnace to make life comfortable during the power outage.Overall, this has to be the best purchase we have ever made! Several suggestions: First, have a licensed electrician install an interlock box so this generator can power your entire house; and second, power the unit with propane over gasoline.

I have not had to use this in an emergency as it's purpose for my florida home is, just in case. Love the dual fuel, easy to operate and pull start...IF. 5 years later and my battery is 100% dead. No biggie right? I'll just go to the local store for my replacement..or buy one on amazon. WRONG-the size and connections are available on place only..from wen. Or spend $170 for special order from batteries plus...TGFA for allowing me to return the two I tried to make work.with dead battery, you can only pull start on propane.I will say the two times I've called Wen for support they are knowledgeable and quick to respond.So in closing, I guess the generator is great-although I've only used it as testing. But the battery thing stinks.

I would buy again. I don’t normally write reviews, but wanted to because I have enjoyed the process on this product and have seen too many negative reviews. I love the features of duel fuel, fuel gauge, electric start, breakers, etc all put into this for the low price I paid. This machine is slick. There was plenty of instructions all around the machine helping me with the setup and startup and I thank Wen for that. The machine is quiet and I look forward to using this for a while. Would I buy again?; yes. Do it! This generator is easily worth twice the price for the features. My dad had a Troy Bilt that I really liked but they don’t make anymore. This machine is on par with it but surpasses with user friendliness I am looking at other Wen products after buying this. Snow storm coming here in the south! I can probably bet there will be power outages (even though we lucked out with last September's hurricane). Best to get a generator!I looked at used units for a while, but couldn't find anything worth the people's asking price. I started looking at new, and settled on this WEN for two reasons-- 1) Sold by Amazon and it has LOTS of good reviews, only took a day to get it, and the freight was free, 2) it's a dual fuel unit. I wanted to run it off the house LP instead of having to keep a gasoline can full and fresh. Plus, running it off the house means we're unlikely to ever run out of fuel!The power it produces will supply our home for everything but heat and AC. We have LP heaters, so that's not a problem, and the generator makes enough power to run a portable AC, if needed. We are connecting the unit to our home panel to make things far easier in an emergency.This guy started RIGHT up first try, ran great! After running for about 5 minutes, I hooked up two hairdryers (3000 watts max) to check it out, and it handled them without a fuss. Note the green funnel thing I had to use to add the engine oil. This too is available from Amazon and was a life-saver, as not one of my other funnels could reach properly to do the job!The generator is pretty quiet and smooth. It is a very nice unit, and I'm GLAD I didn't pay $300.00 for someone else's used problem!

The generator arrived earlier than expected yesterday (2/23/21). It was already late in the evening when I got home to work on it so I didn't do a full run to break it in, but I did get everything set up and run it for about 20 minutes or so off a propane tank and it ran great. Way quieter than other generators I've used.As other reviewers have mentioned, first thing you need to do after opening the box is remove the red shipping brackets under the motor. This isn't too difficult if you just tip the generator on its side or back and use a little ratchet and wrench.The instructions say that it should arrive with the negative (-) electrical wire already attached because it's positioned close to the wheel, however mine wasn't. Both wires were loose, so I had to connect both of the wires, which again was no problem using a standard ratchet kit.The wheel kit is easy enough to install and makes moving it around considerably easier. While the unit is still heavy at 100+ pounds, it's way easier to move around than larger generators.The trickiest part was putting in the oil. I bought some full synthetic 5w-30 oil for mine because I want to make sure it lasts a nice long time so I wanted to run full synthetic right from the start.Where you need to pour in the oil is set in quite a bit further than the wheel and frame, so there will be things in your way when trying to fill the reservoir. You will definitely want to have a funnel with a long neck, or one that can be adjusted to reach an awkward position.I wound up tilting mine slightly to the side and holding it there while I used a long-neck funnel to pour the oil in, though I'm sure this would have been considerably easier if I had one with a stretchy or adjustable neck.Once everything was set up and the oil was in I hooked up the propane tank with the provided hose attachment and followed the instructions on the quick-start guide. Everything started up and ran perfectly. To test it out and give it a tiny bit of a break in I hooked up my circular saw and pulled the trigger a few times randomly. It had no trouble handling it. Running off propane the generator was also quite a bit quieter and emitted way less exhaust than a standard gasoline engine.It's important to remember Propane will only net you about 3500 running watts, a bit less than running on gasoline, but it has the benefits of running cooler, quieter, and keeping the engine and carburetor cleaner. 3,500 is also enough power to handle a standard 1,500 watt electric space heater, tv, and charging station at the same time without any trouble which is all I plan on using it for should another major storm hit again. The instruction booklet also has a table listing the standard wattages for most common home appliances so you can use this to help figure out how much power any items you plug in might draw.After being without power for 5 days I don't ever want to be in that situation again so I plan on taking care of this generator to make sure we're ready for any future power outages. Even though I haven't used it for a long term test yet I'm already feeling better having it around and knowing how easy it was to get started and running.

I purchased this generator primarily for its dual fuel capability and the claimed power output. My specific needs were around 1500 watts for my compressor and a few hundred watts for LED lighting at my construction site.Upon receiving the package, there was minimal external damage, but unfortunately, the generator itself had a broken motor stand (pic 1) and was missing the ignition keys. According to Wen support, the generator couldn't be used without the keys, potentially causing a three to five-day setback at the job site. Frustratingly, I expected the generator to be functional upon arrival, especially since we're not connected to grid power yet. Fortunately, I found a workaround from another manufacturer's guide, allowing me to start the generator without the keys. This involved disconnecting two cables to use the pull starter on propane, but it didn't seem to work with gasoline.Dealing with Wen's support was a letdown, as their tone was short and condescending over the phone. Additionally, the lack of instructions for replacing the motor stand surprised me. While I have mechanical experience, the process of dismantling and installing the new part took me at least an hour, and I had to use a steering wheel puller to remove the motor stand and a screwdriver to pry off the cover plate, resulting in cosmetic damage. There are a lot of wires in there and bolts to remove (pic 2). It seems unreasonable to expect the average buyer to address such issues on their own, especially if they have to hire a mechanic for assistance. If a company claims a "nationwide network of technicians," they should provide more substantial support.The electric start function works well, and the generator runs smoothly on propane. However, it struggles with higher settings on my 110v and 240v welders and my compressor, making me question its power ratings. Notably, the voltage drops significantly under a high load, raising concerns about its consistency. I've observed this under both propane and gasoline fuel types.After approximately 125 hours of use within its limits, mainly on the 240v side connected to my electrical panel, the generator has functioned without issues. However, based on the overall customer experience and the observed performance, I cannot recommend this generator. Considering the price range, there are likely better options from other manufacturers. Perhaps even a manufacturer who has a comprehensive support plan in place to either replace broken units or have them repaired at their expense.

This is a good generator / but I fell I paid too much for it / Shop around!

Purchased June 2024, dead battery, charging will hold for only a day or two, other than that I think it's a good generator.

I recieved the generator with no engine key or instructions.

Generator runs fine, but all the hardware is missing. Also missing are the axles, support feet and bracket to attach the handle. Some what disappointing.
