Many of the reviews of this model were positive. I compared this scale against similar models by Health-O-Meter and Detecto, and considered no others. I found a review by J. Pruett dated January 31, 2008 to be very compelling, and perhaps the single most influential on my decision. So, I placed my order, and I chose to order without the height attachment.The package arrived as promised. On time, no signs of exterior packing damage. I opened the box carefully, and was impressed with the way that they were able to pack the scale safely in a surprisingly small box. Adequate internal foam cushioning, and no damage to the scale. I was a bit surprised to discover that the installation instructions were nothing more than a tri-fold document with outstanding quality illustrations and very few words. Total words in English across 4 pages of illustrations is ten (10). But these are high quality illustrations printed on glossy card-stock paper. VERY NICE! It took only a few minutes for me to realize that I had all the directions I needed to assemble the scale. Once I had all of the parts laid out on the floor, it took about 10 minutes to assemble. Another 5 minutes to "zero" it in, and it was set to go.My intention for this scale is that it be the last one I purchase, and that it last for the rest of my life. If I'm going to work hard to exercise and eat right, then it is only natural that I be able to accurately track weight gain or loss. That is why I didn't mind putting out the bucks for this scale, and I have been extremely satisfied. I would recommend the SECA 700 to anyone interested in a quality product with extreme accuracy (1/8th of a pound). As a bonus, this scale is attractive, with a modern design. Although I keep it in my workput room, it would not be an objectionable addition to a bathroom that has ample room to "absorb" it. I weigh myself every morning & it is a blessing not having to play guessing games with what I weigh. I no longer have to do the ridiculous scale dance on-off-on-off-on-off trying for the same number twice - which never happened! I got fed up with inaccurate digital scales and the spring scales / dial scales losing their accuracy over time. Whatever this scale shows is what I actually weigh that day. I put two 35 lb kettle bells on it and I had to set the scale to 125 lb to get it to balance. Plus it never balances back to zero. I would send it back but unfortunately I did not notice at the time of purchase that it was not eligible for return.
