SMONTER 38" Heavy Duty Dog Crates Indoor & Outdoor Dog Cage Strong Metal Pet Kennel Playpen with Two Prevent Escape Lock and Locking Wheels

I needed a crate that could cope with my determined collie who bent a strong wire crate door inwards and nearly got his head stuck, plus rattling it on purpose, and general shenanigans. This crate is like a lion crate. It's wrought iron, so heavy (wheels provided), solidly made, nicely designed (although a cage is still a cage) and my collie has given up. Result! The ease of assembly - well, lots better with two people, as the sides are heavy and you need to put the top on, when the sides are upright. If a side falls on your foot, it hurts. Lol. The rest is easy peasy, tools provided, correct fixings etc. It didn't take long. The instructions state, put the wheels on first, and this is correct as the crate is heavy. Easy to lock - the locking mechanisms are made for opposable thumbs. The latches seem fiddly but in fact they're unusable by anything without fingers and thumbs, which is perfect. Not normal bolts but a two-stage latch and screw, once you have the hang of it, very easy to use. The crate floor is slatted for hygiene so probably not very comfy. To solve this I inserted the thick base from my dog's pet bed, but anything with a rigid base is fine, then put bedding on that. If your animal isn't crate trained and still relieves itself in the crate, waste will fall through and collect in the tray underneath, ditto an upset water bowl. An ordinary dog will not chew their way out of this. My collie has big teeth and he's very determined but the gig is absolutely up. There's nothing to rattle either. He sleeps happily in it at night, as I cover most of it with a blanket to make a den. I don't leave him all day, but a couple of hours here or there, and he would be destructive if given the house, so this is perfect. A final thing: some of the crate's height is taken up by the tray area underneath. Bear this in mind when ordering the right size. My collie can stand up fine, but it would be too small for a retriever to stand. Check your crate size before ordering. x

Absolutely delighted with this crate. I have an American Pitbull so I need a strong crate, this is perfect. I got the 38 inch and its perfect for her. She loves it, feels secure and sleeps great. Full of energy in the morning. I didn't know a lot about crates before I bought this and it was only reading reviews I gained some knowledge. I was going to go for the larger crate thinking that she would have more room but I read that if they have too m7ch room they'll go toilet in it. So I opted for the smaller one. I'm delighted I did. I love that this has a litter tray as such underneath so if any accidents happen it's easy to clean. The top is hinged too so can access the crate from there and the wheels are a godsend because this crate is heavy. I love it and it looks nice.

I absolutely love this crate and having gone through a few wire crates due to her being strong, I decided to try this crate . It looks amazing, sturdy and she has not broken out or redesigned it ! I would agree that the latches are the only thing that are lacking, however I am used to them now and they are only used at night. … perfect for my xl bully female. My male would need the xl .

Excellent! I am very happy with the quality, and it was really easy to assemble. It looks great, and my dog is happy in it.

So far is good cage, both it for Belgian malinois, welding is dot based, not full length of the bar, but other than that is good

Easy to put together. Indestructible, escape proof....not! My boy is a 25kg staffie/gsd and has noise sensitivity, he loves his crates as his bed but had crate 5wks when a noise frightened him and he was out within an hour with a bleeding mouth! I'm upset and very Disappointed 😞

Very easy to put together cage is quite heavy and sturdily built I have a 135 lb Mastiff that has destroyed two regular extra large cages just received it today took about 25 minutes and total to get completely assembled although it was too large for the original room it was intended to go into we'll see if she does not destroy this one. I'll update in a few weeks *****UPDATE 2 YEARS LATER***** This cage is still in pristine condition. It looks exactly the same as when I put it together two years ago. No loose Parts no rattling nothing has fallen off and my escape artist has not figured out how to escape. My dog actually loves her cage and we just leave the doors open and she'll climb in it and take her naps as she sees fit. The one thing I do recommend is adding some type of bedding heavy duty bedding. I took old California King comforters and folded them into quarters and then stitched them shut to create a dog bed for her and put it in the bottom of the cage which she loved for about a year. Last year I was getting rid of a 14 inch Memory Foam California King mattress and I just took a Sawzall to it and cut down one piece of foam to about 4 to 5 in to fit her cage and used another comforter to make a pillow cover and that is the best thing I ever did the dog is in heaven. If I ever get another Mastiff I won't even waste my money buying an extra large Mastiff cage I will buy another one of these.

We use this kennel for our English Mastiff who is very nervous in crates and will VERY quickly and easily plow through any basic kennel we've tried. The kennel was fairly easy to assemble and literally only required snapping the wheels into place then folding up each of the sides and bolting the top piece on. The kennel is heavy duty and the width of the spaces between the bars combined with the shape and size of the bars themselves has prevented our dog from escaping. She HAS chewed on some of the bars and caused a bit of visible teeth-denting on those ones but not enough to compromise the integrity of the kennel...yet (my hope is that she'll be used to and comfortable with the kennel before it gets to that point). The kennel included 3 carabiner clips to hook onto the latches to prevent the dog from slipping the latches open. My kids took the one off the roof latch at one point and our dog got out of the top of the kennel the first time she was in it, so the carabiners are definitely a necessary feature for us and will be for you too if you have a smart or determined dog. The bottom of the kennel is bars just like the walls but closer together, I'd imagine if you tried to put a small dog in the big kennel they could get their foot caught between the floor bars. I also don't imagine the bars under them are terrible comfortable. There are removable pans under the floor bars for catching messes but you will need to clean off the bars as well if there is a mess. At first I was skeptical of the pan being underneath the bars for that reason but I realize for dogs that eat the pan in the bottom of the kennel that would be necessary. During assembly we did have a bit of difficulty keeping the side walls standing up right while trying to slide the bolts in to hold the top in place, for that one step in particular we found it necessary to have 2 people just to hold the side walls up and get the bolts slid in quickly then one person could go around and tighten all the bolts down. The wheels are fantastic for moving the kennel around and have locks on each of them that work very well for holding the kennel in one place. We searched a lot for what kennel to try and just didn't want to go to the $900+ options without trying something else first. We're very happy with this purchase and the quality of the cage! Will update if necessary over time.

I have 3 of these crate, two regular ones and one of the heavy duty ones and have had them for almost a year so I figured it was time for a review. These crates look awesome. They are very sturdy and for a normal dog they are perfect. I used to have a dog with terrible separation anxiety (like would go through doors if she accidentally got shut in a room) and I don't think this crate would be for her. But it's perfect for my current dogs even the one of which pulled a cheap wire crate apart and would constantly escape it. I don't like the "heavy-duty" one as much as the other two, the latch is fiddly and not well thought out, and the door doesn't lay flat against the crate when open, like the other ones do. I was concerned about the slats on the bottom of the crate being not only uncomfortable (my dogs shred beds in their crates) but also unsafe. I was afraid they would catch a foot in them and break a toe, so I cut heavy duty outdoor mats (the ones that seem to way a ton for no apparent reason and are carpet on one side and rubber on the other) and put them down so my dogs would be more comfortable. I like them so much I might buy one for my foster dog (who has been with us way longer then i thought he would be) so I don't have his ugly wire crate in my living room anymore. Also, definitely check the height before buying they seem a little shorter then alot of crates and if my girl was an inch or two taller I probably would have had to get a larger one. I have 38" crates for 2 pitbull mixes (55-60lbs) and a American Bully (40lbs). I will probably end up buying a 42" for my Pitt-bulldog-dalmation mix foster (65lbs) because he is a bit taller. I had a foster husky would would also have needed the 42" one due to his height.

We had three of these crates. We use to always get the normal wired or plastic ones but two of our dogs would rip them apart too quick. These crates were never damaged by the dogs. Easy to fold up for travel and easy to open for use. I’ll be rebuying ours eventually. We had a house fire and even that wasn’t able to destroy one of them completely.
