Does the headboard keep you from using a fitted sheet? I know it’s a deeper mattress but worried about the headboard stopping that.

Was able to place fitted sheet without issue. If you have a deeper fitted sheet or king size, that will work better if your goal is to cover most of the mattress on the sides. A regular queen size sheet will go about halfway down the mattress though which is still enough to cover the top and won't slide off. It's very easy to place even with the headboard since it's also inflatable and you can reach between it and the mattress easily.

Does the bed maintain the inflation during use?

I found that for the first few nights I had to add a little more air, but then it Maintained air. I use it every night, and have slept on it for 9 months

Can this be inflated with external air pump? Going camping and will only have access to a battery powered air pump.

All the other answers saying no are incorrect. You CAN inflate this with an external pump. To do so, you just flip the switch to inflate (or deflate if thats what you're doing) and then insert your pump hose into air intake valve and it will work! Just make sure to turn the switch back to off when you're done to close the valve.
