If you like it tight fitting L will be snug. Im also 5'6 and 220 bought the 3x

I am 5' 8" and 180lbs would a size L me right for me?

I found this to run small if you are wearing as a cover up/dress. I’m 5’ 6” 118lbs and always an Xs in other things and ended up ordering a medium. If you are wearing just as a shirt, then I think the L would probably fit
