My Passport Ultra

I really like the design of this latest WD Ultra passport drive. It's much better than the standard passport drives and why shouldn't tech look good? The important thing is that the drive performs well. This does as it writes and reads fast over USB3 gen1 and seems to work on any powered USB port that I have tried and that's on Linux Mint, Windows 10 and Mac. The unit is half metallic and half plastic. I would have prefer for it to be all metallic but at least this is better than the normal passport drive. I would definitely recommend this if you need a good capacity portable drive.

one of the best drives used, was able to connect to mobile phone direct, no need for external power supply, excellent size it goes with me everywhere , i back up my Laptop daily, it comes with software , plug and play , lots of options to use emailed tech support, they responded promptly. i have used other brands before but nothing beets WD, transfer speed excellent, silent operation, 4TB what more do you need.

Does the job

After my old hard drive bit the bullet, it was time for an upgrade. I'm not hardware savvy when it comes to hard drives, but I knew that I wanted a large capacity, portability and a durable piece of kit. I spent a good amount of time looking for the product I wanted, until eventually this drive found its way into my eyeline. Having used it for some time now, I can confidently say, that it was worth the money. The 4tb (3.6tb) capacity was more than enough for what I used it to store. The USB-C connection was a modern touch and so far way more reliable than the micro USB of my old drive. The build quality is great, and the overall look is professional and very showing of its premium price point. In ending then, I am very pleased with the product, it is everything I needed it to be and then some. If you need such mass storage as this, it is worth picking up.

Fast , reliable and good storage . What really surprised me was how relative fast it is

My first one, worked OK in win10, then suddenly it disconnected and I could not find it in windows, not matter what. I suspected the cable and WD agreed with me and a new one is on it's way. Anyway, returned it to Amazon, and they replaced with another but for windows, the first one was for MAC and I formatted it for windows NTFS. All appeared ok until I disconnected. When next connected nothing what so ever. Received a new device from Amazon and again the same problem. Finally, located the problem. This is a USB-C connection and I had to use brute force to insert the cable into the drive, unlike normal USB. Thereafter, everything was OK and I felt a bit silly with it all. But I should never have had to use Samson strength on it in the first place. So be aware, make sure it is fully in and at the same time, note the cable comes with a MAC connection and an adaptor to use normal USB, it has two small pegs to ensure insert is correctly done.

Failed after a year and 1 week, barely used. Sent back under 3 year warranty direct to WD who are awful to deal with. Still not acknowledging receipt of the drive weeks later even though I have provided tracking and photo delivery proof.

Really fast upload speeds and a hafty amount of storage space. What's not to love. So far it has survived 3 accidentally drops at a height of 1 meter.

Perfekt for Time Machine

Hab mir die Platte gekauft für ein Backup meiner NAS. Funktioniert tadellos. Einfach an das Qnap via USB Adapter angeschlossen und schon war die Platte einsatzbereit und konnte über Nacht 2TB Daten sichern. Perfekt. Und jetzt fühlt man sich sicher, falls doch mal was mit der NAS sein sollte ist noch das Backup da :)

Forks flawlessly. Very compact as well. Can be ran by an android phone. Excellent.
