If you have an equalizer function, in your, phone, Ipod, Ipad, MP3, player, then, you can turn down the frequencies that you do not like, to a level, where, normally, you would be barely able to hear them, then attach this device, and get the sound you like. I encourage you, if you are already buying this device, to try this at home. I like bass, harsh, crisp, mi-range, and a little high's. With this amp, you can really tailor your sound.Just like having an amp at home, and an equalizer, or, an amp in your car, with an equalizer. I bought this unit for that specific function.No device that I have ever used, makes it possible to get the bass the way this thing does. I bought the Muvo v100 and set the equalizer bars If you set your equalizer function bars the way I have them, the sound is astounding!!! I purchased the EMF free Tubes headphones from Amazon as well. I like the way the bass, compresses the rubber headphone tubes. Dude, try them, both, if you do not like em, return them.When I first turned on the Boostaroo, then, set my EQ, I started laughing. :) Sounds so good, it's like a car sound system, with a big amp andsubs. I know, I have had lots of those. My home stereo with the 15 inch woofers can play this loud. Bar frequencies from left to right. 60hz, up all the way, next, 250k, down all the way, next, 1k, down all the way, 4k up half way, 16k, up all the way.Bass boost setting: ONClear songs with lots of bass sound good on these settings.As good as the speaker that I built with 24 woofers and 16 tweeters in it. As good as the 6, 10 inch speakers that were in my car at one time, or the 2 dual voice 12's that I used to own. I have owned bass bins, including voice of the theater style, big horns, electrostatic speakers,recording studio monitors, I have been in lots of clubs and to lots of concerts. People have heard better speakers and better equipmentthan I have. Still, I live in an apartment now, and even in my previous homes, playing music as loud and with as much bass, as this set up has, even in a basement, will get the neighbors mad. I am not a salesman for these products, and this will probably last me for therest of my lifetime. If you want loud, and, hard hitting bass, then, mthis set-up, may be for you. Pretty LOUD!!! Lots of BASS!!!

Virtually deaf, I depend upon ANY means to boost my computer’s volume. I have used this product for years, but I acquired this new one for a laptop I just purchased. As normal with this device, it does a great job of automatically amplifying volume.This is also one rugged device. The one I purchased over 15 years ago has survived years of abuse in the harsh environment of an 18-wheeler. The extreme vibration and dusty environment did not phase this product at all. In fact, now at over 15 years old, my old unit still works just fine. I would not be surprised at all if they have not worked to improve this product at all: they didn’t need to!To install, you simply insert the unit’s male 3.5 mini jack into the computer speaker/headphone port; then, you plug your headset into one of the three ports on the unit. There are no volume controls on the unit itself. It simply gives a baseline boost of your system’s volume overall. With this new level of supplemented volume, you control your computer volume through its software, just as you normally would without the device attached.The Boostaroo mini jack cord is a generous 1.5 feet, accommodating virtually all laptop setups. For full-size computers, you may need to get a female to male cord adapter, or you could secure it to your computer or another nearby surface: velcro would be perfect for this task.The sound quality is in no way negatively impacted by this device. In fact, it seems that the sound quality is greatly enhanced. But I would guess that this is from your newfound ability to finally hear what you’ve missed over the years! And the greater your level of hearing, the more your system’s sound quality seems to be improved.One issue I encounter with this device is that sometimes it does not quite adequately boost volume enough for my profound level of hearing loss. In most cases, the level is fine, even too loud. but there are some situations where I would benefit from even a greater volume level.If your hearing loss is as bad as mine, I would suggest also checking out an amplifier from FiiO which is also offered at Amazon. It works the same way as the Boostaroo, but it has a volume control on the device itself. At about four times the cost of the Boostaroo, the FiiO model boosts my volume enough to have to adjust the volume setting just a little over half way. But this is in no way a criticism of Boostaroo. If you have moderate hearing loss, this product will be great. I highly recommend it.

This little headphone device boosts the sometimes weak TV sound level from programs, streamings, and recordings. And for foreign accent programs to listeners with poor hearing it's great.. But it gives a strong fixed output level so your headphones must have in-line volume control. And after only 5>10 hours the sound becomes distorted or spotty from battery weakening, so do have lots of AA's on hand. Lastly, the battery compartment is quite tight so you'll need some patience and dexterity to change them periodically. But there's no other device like it and it does a great and important job.

This is such a useful item, amplifies & distributes the audio levels equally. Perfect!

It's not generally known that the output from a computer is not great enough for full sized headphones. With this amplifier that is corrected, and you can enjoy full sound output.
