How do you change the batteries?

Not sure. Pillow is attached so I guess you would have to cut the pillow. We have had it a year and it still works

Can you change batteries when they die?

Not on the mini version. We received a mini where the battery is already dead and there is no way to replace it. It is a “single use” battery.
