I want to be able to have car key "out" but other keys "in" so i dont keep scratching car. Will this do that?

What I did was place the car key on a separate ring and put it through the external loop where the dog lead clip is. The car key is permanently outside the pouch but all my other keys are safely away and works really well

Is the outside metal hook removable? thanks

I am using this product and both the outside as well as the inside metal hooks are not removable. For my own requirements this product entirely meets my requirements. I have attached a chain to the outside and the other end is clumped to a belt loop, when I go out, at least in this way. I do not lose my keys, should the pouch slip out of my pocket, say for instance while travelling. All in all I can honestly recommend this product.
