REOTEMP K82-3 Soil Thermometer, 5 Inch Stem, Waterproof, for Seeding and Transplanting Garden Temperature Measurement, 0-220 Fahrenheit

Ordered this soil thermometer and a different brand in order to test the efficacy and correctness of soil temp in my worm bin. Both place soil temp at approximately 70° so I believe them to be accurate.

I gave it 5 stars because it does what it is supposed to do. I would not buy again due to not having a sheathe to protect and carry it in and the numbers on it are quite small to read for tired old eyes!

Using this device, I can accurately see what the ground temperature is of my yard is. it is important NOT to use certain herbicides on grass until the ground temperature is 70 or less for 5 days. This thermometer will help you not to make a mistake in early application of sod herbicide. The 5 days is something I read somewhere and so far has proven a reliable measure. This thermometer is excellent for checking that. I would recommend calibrating it by placing in a glass of ice water and seeing that the thermometer shows 32 degrees, the same as the ice water. This can be adjusted with a little nut at the base of the thermometer.

Good item

No need to get more expensive as these are just as good. As long as you push in by stem I can see these lasting a long time. Dial is clear and digits very easy to read. I purchased 2 and both are less than half of a degree different and matched other ones I have. Out of dirt matched the other air one’s temps. So accuracy is also good enough to me. About 3 seconds to stabilize in dirt direct from air temp, so quick. Nice to have a spare for less than what one costs of others.

I like this very much. I use it for my garden and my worm bins. Easy to use and gives fast and accurate readings. Good product at a good price. I would buy this again in the future.
