Major Improvements with Depression and Anxiety
I have been suffering from severe depression and anxiety for most of my life and regularly visit a psychologist for my problems. I found this book on my own and bought it because of the positive reviews and I undoubtedly think it is the most valuable tool I have to manage my issues. I was not methodically taught during childhood to deal with my emotions first and then my problems, nor to take responsibility for how I felt. This book has changed my entire outlook on life and was a major slap in the face at first, realizing I had trained myself to be so negative. It's an easy read, yet insightful enough to hold your attention. I have a long road to contentment but I know I'm on it now and actually feel like I can make it. Please buy this book if you are dealing with depression, anxiety or anger, and help yourself.

Good Read
This book is very informative and good read if you or someone you know is dealing with anxiety, anger or depression. I feel this book would benefit more if it were used with a therapist and the patient. The therapist can help the patient on working with the ABC emotional charts the author has provided.It has helped me think about working on my irrational behavior to a rational one. I didn't realize how much irrational self-talk I was using which was causing me to have so much anxiety and anger.I would recommend this book to those who want to work on getting their emotions under control.

Best in Class
This is my favorite REBT book by far! It is very clear and easy to understand, yet it is extremely thorough. To anyone who wants to learn how to use REBT in their life, I cannot recommend this book highly enough. As an added bonus, it is now available on Kindle. For some reason the Kindle version doesn't show up as an available format under the print version but you can find it by going to Advanced Search, in the Title box enter "SOS Help for Emotions" and in the Format drop-down, select Kindle Edition.

I utilize a number of resources with clients for teaching Cognitive Behavior Therapy skills; this book continues to be a great resource for humor/cartoons to keep the skills of CBT in mind when practicing at home. This is a good book to have on hand in an office as well as recommending for others to take home and read. It is is not a difficult to read or comprehend and there is limited "jargon" throughout the book; it makes CBT very user friendly for people of various learning levels to understand.

Terrible title and graphics; great book
I wish that I could take the content of this book and put it in another cover. The graphics are pretty condescending, so it's hard to get a teenager to read it, but the content is well-written and very straightforward. I admit that I paid my son to read it (yes, that's embarrassing!) because according to the other reviews, it has a good presentation of cognitive behavior therapy so now my son and I can talk about "ABC's" and he's only read the first two chapters so far.

Helpful book to keep as a reminder and reference
I had the Kindle version of this book. Ordered the print edition so I could enjoy the illustrations better and so I could have it on the shelf to refer to as I wished. I find this helpful in managing my anxiety, which can be an ongoing process.

A tremendous help for those who are struggling
This book has been a great help to me personally in my journey out of crippling anxiety. Well written with tons of practical examples and help. My only advice is to take a copy and work your way through it; you'll get out of it what you put into it. Great practical ideas for couseling as well.

This book is helpful and has great information. It is a bit unreadable and terribly boring though if you can get through it.

Pretty good book
I found this book extremely helpful in managing the anxiety and not letting your emotions control you anymore. Very simply written and at the same time it works.However, I would point out that there're some discrepancies.1. I don't think that a suggestion to choose a positive role model might be a very good idea, without discussing it with a councelor. As soon as person finds out that he doesn't fit the "ideal" image of a "hero", s/he could loose self-confidence and the self-esteem might lower, causing self-tourtouring and being constantly dissatisfied with what a person currently is.2. The sentence "...homicide rate is seven times higher that that in England, Europe, Japan...." looks ridiculous and shows that the authos is not really aware of the political/geographical situation in the world. It would be the same as if he said "... homicide rate is seven times higher that that in the USA and Hawaii..." (Hawaii is the part of the USA, the same as England is part of Europe) :))Anyway, I liked the book if you read it selectively - it might work also for you.
