While browsing the section on line for books that will appeal to women and young girls I came across this interesting hardcover book (The paper doll’s House of Miss Sarah Elizabeth Birdsall Ottis) on Amazon and purchased it for a bargain price at that time.This is the kind of book (The paper doll’s house of Miss Sarah Elizabeth Birdsall Ottis) that will have great appeal to women and young girls into doll house things. It contains all kinds of collage items like scraps of wallpaper, engravings from mail order catalogs, furniture and other items. It was put together by a 12 year old girl living in Long Island at the time. She also became President of the Girl Scouts. There are 80 black and white and color illustrations in this book that will delight readers of this unusual book.Even though this is not my usual reading interests; nevertheless, I read the book and found it somewhat interesting. I loved the interior decoration of the rooms. Splendid colors. There are paper dolls and costumes included in the back of the book. The costumes do not have tabs to keep them on the dolls, but you can use scotch tape. You can tape the dolls into the various rooms in the book. Amazing design work for a 12-year old girl and the book is an interesting history of that era and strata of society.

Was missing paper dolls. Received cut off with all of them removed.

Bought this used as a gift. It looks brand new. The recipient loves it.

For those who love the magic of dollhouses from Victorian times, this book will satisfy. It's a bit dark and fascinating, not cute or perky. Nice historical theme of having been created by a child long ago.

Charming, makes a wonderful gift for child or adult.

Very unique

I bought this book for my 12 year old granddaughter, but I was disappointed. The illustrations of the doll's house, though lovely to look at, fail to show the 3-dimensional effect of collage.The print is very large, which would suggest that the book is aimed to appeal to children but the wording often contains phrases that children would not understand.

A beautiful and unique look into the world of a gifted, imaginative girl

what an absolutely delightful book, rich in design , it includes paper dolls, but I recommend making/ adding notches to the clothing, to easily attach clothing to the dolls ( too easy ) It has rare images and a wonderful backstory into the imagination of a Victorian era child , If she lived today she would probably be a high profile designer or graphics artist, Anyone who grew up in an era of paper dolls will enjoy this book. Yes i am a spry 56 year old, but I fully intend on assembling and playing with the characters on the richly detailed full color pages , 5 stars

Un libro precioso, donde puedes ver la bella casa de muñecas de papel sala por sala, e información interesante sobre la autora (en inglés). Además viene con recortables muy bonitos de los personajes con su vestuario, lo único que me falla, es que los recortables no tengan esas tiras de papel que permite unir ropa y personaje.

Not exactly what I thought. Theatre are still paper dolls to play with but it's more of a reading book.
