Good lap steel slide

I'm using this for lap steel. It's a nice weight and the rounded lower front side of the bar makes it doing single notes easier. My only gripe, which is correctable, is that the top edges of the bar are sharp and not comfortable when holding the bar. But I will take my Dremel to it and round the corners. With that done it wil be a very nice bar and good value.

I couldn't ask for this bar to be any better. I have one that costs almost 4 times as much and this one is nearly identical. I'm grateful to get it at such a good price.

I have two SX 8 string steels (C6 and E9), and a bit newish to steal, and find this much more comfortable than using a round slide. I've played guitar for decades, including a little slide and had 6 string lap steels, but for serious lap steel / pedal steel, this is the right kind of bar. Hefty and helps with sustain, but not overly heavy. Worth buying if you haven't used this kind of steel bar before. Took an hour or two to get used to the feel of it, but after that, I found it much more comfortable and it gives much better sustain.

This bar has good weight and size. It fits my hand more comfortably than a stevens. It's a bit taller than a stevens and without straight edges. One edge is rounded the other is angled for pull offs. I recently purchased several costly bars. I was looking for one that was heavier than the 4.4 oz bar I was using. I seem to be on an endless quest to add greater volume to my playing and thought a heavier bar would help. I added this to my order because it was so inexpensive. The spec for the bar didn't include weight, however, it feels like it's in the 5.0-5.5 range. It is now my "go to" bar. These bars are so inexpensive you can buy extra for your case(s) or as a just-in-case bar that you keep in your car.

I don't have much experience with guitar slides, but I've always had the iron or glass cylinders, and either way they've never been comfortable for me. I love the sounds that are produced with the slide, especially when you add a bit of reverb, and using this slide with the guitar resting on my lap is super easy to use and produces an excellent sound.

As others have said, the factory machining on the ends leaves a very sharp point which digs into your hand and fingers. Mine was sharp enough to break a balloon with moderate pressure. However, a little grinding and filing took the sharp points off, and for my purpose - which was to see if I could play a lap steel with arthritis - it was an ok purchase. However after three weeks I moved up to a Shubb SP2 which is perfect at 3 times the price. So you may want to start with the Shubb. Also, the Shubb has a little larger concave cutout where your thumb sits, so if you have chubby fingers, you won't be dragging your thumb on the strings causing unwanted mutes.
