Very Happy - Much Better than Security Floodlight
We have been long term users of Philips Hue Lighting and whilst it is significantly more expensive, especially for colour, the functionality and flexibility, plus the overall quality really makes it worth while. We bought a number of these lights to both replace existing floodlights and in a couple of new areas and we are very pleased. If you want them to function as security floodlights then you can pair them with a number of devices to act as motion sensors - the Philips Hue ones being the obvious choice, however they can quite happily function with other options via your home automation system of choice. The key thing here is that you can choose to have a very bright full strength floodlight feel to them, or you can have a much warmer white light or obviously a whole range of colours too. We actually have ours set up for a much more 'friendly' warm white at a lower intensity during the evening, switching to a much more security style bright white at night if something is detected. In terms of the actual assembly, they are a good quality, although the IP rating is definitely not as good as it could be, they would need to be in a relatively sheltered location and I would worry if they were in an exposed location that was likely to see a lot of wind and rain. Personally, I like the frosted feel of the cover and that unlike most security floodlights, the LEDs aren't openly exposed. Likely also a design choice given the mix of colour options. Not to the not so good stuff. These are a nightmare to actually put up - I was two storeys up a ladder, holding the unit to the wall fumbling with a tiny little grub screw that was going in to a hole I couldn't see that if I let go would only be held by the electrical wiring. This is a major fail. Philips needs to provide some kind of clip or catch mechanism that will hold the unit whilst the screws go in to then keep it in place. This is something that other suppliers do as a matter of course. As others have noted too, the cable entry is via the rear only which makes a massive assumption about how they will be installed - although to be fair that appears standard across the Philips outdoor range. If you will be using a cable that is running along a wall or coming in from another angle like I was mostly, I used the following ABS spacers to lift the unit off the wall by a centimetre or so to allow the cable to come in via the rear. Obviously I then just used slightly longer screws than those provided, but I am delighted with the result, very secure and much easier. I also added a blob of silicone to where the cable came in given it was slightly more exposed. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B4236GR8? Overall, very happy and so far they have been very effective.

Brilliant Smart Floodlight for the Garden
Really happy with this Philips Hue outdoor floodlight. Set-up was straightforward through the Hue app and it connected to the rest of my lights without any issues. The brightness is excellent and easily lights up the garden and patio, while the range of colours is great for creating different moods. Being able to automate it with routines and control it by voice is really handy, especially for coming home in the dark. The build quality feels solid and weatherproof, so I’m confident it’ll stand up to the Scottish weather. It’s not the cheapest option, but the performance and integration with the Hue system make it well worth the money.

Better Light
Bought two of these for back garden replacing old halogen spots. Connected to Hue and set to automatically light at 30% to see my way to the bin. Good light at 100%. Not used the colours, but some people might like that. A bit expensive, but good quality.

Good light
Good looking light which works well with the app. It’s bright enough but I feel that the white light could be brighter. I have it paired with the motion sensor which works well through the app. I like the way you can set timers so you don’t get blasted with light when sat on the patio.

Clean design and 16m colours
I bought this when there was an offer on, so didn't pay full price. I'm waiting for another offer so I can get another one, so you might have already guessed that I like it. Installation is simple and the base is plenty strong enough to last. You're advised to put some silicone around the back and where the cable enters, even though there's a gland there, which I did. Then it's a case of attaching the lamp to the cable, offering it up to the base and securing it in place with a couple of set-screws (maybe one or two - I forget). Mine's on a switched spur, which is necessary these days, and gives you a switch to disable it if needed. Once it was hooked up the Hue hub I could control it from my phone or through Alexa or Google, but if you want it to double as a security light you need to also purchase a Hue external sensor, which will set you back another £40+ notes. bear that in mind when comparing costs, as it's already an expensive item. It takes a bit of fiddling with the settings on the sensor to get it to work how you want it, but mine now ignores cats and dogs most of the time, but picks up humans pretty quickly. I also put a Hue dimmer on the reveal of the window by the back door to give a bit more immediate control over the on/off, especially as my son's at that age where he's a bit scared of the dark. The range of colours in this big panel light are excellent, just like the indoor lights. If you're using your voice to activate them, you can also "set patio blue 100%" or any variation of well-known colours and percentages. When you ask for black however, you get white. If I were Hue, I'd have just switched off at that point. :) Conclusion. Expensive, useful, easy to fit if you already have wires, and fun to play with. Remember you need a separate sensor and see if you can catch it out by asking for unusual colours.

Fast to install, works well as additional lighting
Easy to install, light unit backing has 3 screw locations. If fixing to a wall you'll need to drill the wall to get the wire inside the building to a power source. Grommet provided in box to be cut to suit cable. There appears to be no side exit wire option, so to do that I would imagine you'd have to make your own access in the side of the lamp holder and also the lamp wire box itself. Not an issue for me but useful to know if you have external wire to feed the lamp. Once fitted, and once the outdoor sensor was fitted it was easy to sync with the Hue hub and program the light to my requirements. For brightness, using the whitest setting I could create, this is not bad for an LED lamp with the features it provides, but is certainly no brighter than a smaller type LED security lamp you can buy cheaply from most DIY chains. It still illuminates the garden ok but is not a security lamp ie for a full garden bright illumination. The endless choice of colours are great, and will make sitting outside in the summer a nicer experience for certain. The options for programming the lamo is the same as for all hue lights using the App. The Outdoor Motion Sensor provides settings for various sensitivities & variable daylight brightness sensing, which allows full control over when to turn the lamp on. Great for security as you can get the sensor to turn on an indoor hue light to a set colour for example if movement is sensed outside. Great lamp for garden atmosphere, general use at night, and the motion sensor beats any other sensor for programmability for security & usefeulness.

Unreal smart garden lighting!
The motion sensor is sold separately but you can have it anywhere in the garden so it triggers light as soon as its walked past. You can also have more than one and you just sync them via the hue app. The sensor is definitely worth the purchase and only takes batteries so no hard wiring. Purchased these for outside side garden, after sunset we have no street lighting so our garden is very dark. They were dead easy to put up. The instructions are good and very informative But common sense overrides the instructions because they’re that easy to put up. I have the Philips hue hub so I have linked these up to our google smart home network and a perfect addition to our forever growing Philips hue smart bulbs. I opted to get the colour ambience flood lights to bring mood and atmosphere to the garden. Your instantly transformed into a warm glow with a few short words or via the Philips hue app or the google home app. You can set it so they are on from sunset to sunrise which might be good for those who have cctv and limited lighting in their garden. Giving all round protection. I’m in the process of linking these to my Yale smart home alarm so should my home Alarm go off these would flash red outside my house. I know they’re seem a bit expensive but having Philips hue already you know what your purchasing and quality products they are. Our plug socket is above our kitchen cupboards and we can now leave this on and switch it on and off via google or the app. No more climbing on the chairs. Definitely one of my more sensible purchases

Easy to install, adjustable and very bright
This lamp is super-easy to install. If you can match the colour of the leads coming out of the wall then you can install this lamp. Fastening it to the wall was also easy, but that of course will also depend on the wall material. It is strongly recommended to seal the lamp with silicone sealer. Mose silicone sealers are white but there are some black silicone sealers if you want to match it to the colour of the housing. You don't even need a gun. A finger and a cloth to wipe away excess is sufficient. Adding the lamp to the Hue app and bridge was very easy. This lamp is very adjustable - up/down, left/right. It can be flat-facing outwards or flat-facing downwards or anywhere in between and set off-angle right and left. You need an Allan wrench (included) to make the adjustments. I just keep the Allan wrench close by the lamp outside. If it disappears, I have plenty more. The lamp gets very bright if that's what you want or need. I use it as a flood light with the Philips Hue motion sensor to light up my back yard from dusk to dawn. For one thing it's good for when I go outside to grill dinner. The second good use-case is security. It lights up my entire back yard (granted, not a large one) but there's no off-switch for prowlers to hit (it's inside) and the motion sensor is tucked away so it's not obvious to anyone prowling where it is. The lamp cannot adjusted without the Allan wrench unless a lot of force is applied. It can't be pulled off the wall either without the application of a lot of force. And as it is with motion-activated lights, the prowler can never be certain if it's a motion sensor or the owner turning on the lights. Regardless, visibility is not something prowlers appreciate. The lights also make the quality of my security cameras, which do have night vision, even better. And the colors are fun too of course and the option is nice but the other characteristics of the lamp are what make it a winner.
