Used this brand for years
I’ve been using Instinct for several years now and have been very pleased with this kibble. When I adopted my dog three years ago, I did a lot of research. I wanted something healthy, reasonably priced, and—most importantly—something he would actually eat. This has proven to be a great fit for him. One thing I really appreciate about this brand is the variety. I don’t like the idea of feeding the exact same protein multiple times a day, every day. With Instinct, I can rotate between beef, chicken, and salmon without upsetting his stomach. That flexibility is important to me. I also like that they offer boosters like gravy toppers and freeze-dried raw pieces. The freeze-dried bites add variety and keep mealtime interesting for him. The boosters are reasonably priced, but honestly, the regular kibble with a small amount mixed in is plenty. His vet checkups confirm he’s thriving. Before switching back to Instinct, I actually tried making his food from scratch. At his next vet visit, he had lost about 8 pounds. I realized I wasn’t meeting his nutritional requirements or calorie needs. I switched him back to Instinct right away, and he returned to a healthy weight. That experience really reinforced the importance of properly formulated dog food. The ingredients are solid, with whole proteins as the primary source and no unnecessary fillers. For the quality you’re getting, I find the price very reasonable. I haven’t found another comparable brand in this range that offers the same ingredient standards. My dog weighs about 55 pounds, and I go through roughly 15 pounds per month, which comes out to around $100 monthly. For high-quality nutrition, I think that’s fair. His coat is shiny, his energy is great, and his stomach tolerates this food very well—even when I rotate flavors. He devours it every time, so I can’t speak to the taste myself, but it clearly passes his test. If you’re looking for a high-quality kibble with real ingredients at a reasonable price, I would absolutely recommend Instinct.

Decent quality overall BUT contains yeast. Not for sensitive dogs
My cat loves this kibble, and his coat and his health have never been better. So when my dog’s other food jumped in price I thought I would save a little money and get him this brand as well. But it was disappointing to learn that unlike the cat food, the dog food contains yeast as its 6th ingredient and again further down in the list, which my dog is sensitive to. I shouldnt have assumed, and should have read the label better so thats my fault. And I didn’t figure it out until about 2 weeks in when my dog was scratchy, and shedding more, and scooting his bum. Sigh…. It also contains meal which I don’t love, but it’s better than “by product”. However, as a whole, I do think this brand is decent quality. And yes, it’s a little bit more expensive, but I think it’s a reasonable price for the quality that you get compared to others in the same tier. As long as you have a pet without sensitivities I recommend it, just read the label better than I did

This is after a good meal 😁
My dog loved it from the moment I put it down. I just wish it was more in the bag to last a month.
