But, I think that's just something that will take getting used to, or require a little more break-in. I was used to wearing the moc toes which have a much thicker crepe sole. But, as far as breaking in the leather uppers or the part around the ankle, it was a non-issue. These felt good from day one and the break-in period was slim to none. I have a pair of 1907s and those took much longer to break in. I think some of that has to do with sizing. I've worn a 10.5 in running/athletic shoes (nike, new balance, etc) as far back as I can remember and my brannock size is also 10.5. I bought a 10 in the 1907s and they fit pretty good...maybe a smidge big on one of my feet. I went a full size down to 9.5 in the Iron Ranger and its a perfect fit. But, i went to a Red Wing store to try some on to make sure. I'd recommend doing the same. If you can swing the full price, i'd also recommend buying it at the RW Store for the extra perks and customer service.
