Excellent journal for developing a consistent routine, even if you're very new to it!
I have always wanted to lift weights but I've struggled so much with the fear of the unknown, and that has kept me from making it a part of my routine. "Am I working out too much? Not enough? Too many muscle groups? Is my form right?" I had so many fears that I was doing it wrong that I could never make it a habit and I fell off the bandwagon each time. That was UNTIL I found this book.I'm two and a half weeks into my routine, and I sincerely feel like this is what I've always been looking for. I'm being eased into a routine and all of my questions are being answered. The diagrams in the book are very helpful, but they also include a QR code on each page that you can scan to view short videos of real people doing the exercises. I feel noticeably stronger already, plus, I feel like the spark of excitement is still there after two and a half weeks. People have even noticed it and come up to me at the gym and asked, "What is that? Where can I get one?" The layout is thoughtful and carefully considered. It's a beautiful, functional design. I look forward to opening it each time. If you're looking to learn how to lift weights and stay motivated, this journal is for you. Can't recommend it enough.

When you need a personal trainer in a book
This is a straight-forward plan that you can use many times per week to get you into the gym with a plan. It's so easy to obsess over how often to work out, how many reps to do, etc ... this book is an encouraging and educational guide even for those of us who have worked with personal trainers in the past.I mix this with other workouts (running and TKD classes), filling in 2 or 3 strength-training days each week. The workouts target few muscle groups at a time, which allows for back-to-back days if that's what works in the schedule for the week, but over the weeks, I think you'll hit every major group. It's a great way to overcome the challenge of programming your own workouts and get you into the gym more regularly!!

Transformational
I’ve lost 170lbs, I struggle with plans for the gym. It may seem expensive but it is worth every penny! Each day is a new routine. You never get bored!

Not for absolute beginners
The book is beautiful, with premium features like a pen loop and ribbon bookmark. However, the very first exercise in the book is a series of pullups. Perhaps other beginners wouldn't be intimidated by this, but it turned me off entirely; I was hoping to start slow and then progress to more advanced skills as the book progressed. I also wish it had recommended alterations or alternative exercises; I even checked the QR code and nada.
