<p>Open pan: In a large cooking pot, bring water to rolling boil. Add the drained rice & stir gently. Cook uncovered for 6-7 minutes on medium heat. Drain & rinse with more boiling water. Strain excess water & serve. Closed pan: Bring water & rice to boil. Cover pan with a tight lid & let it simmer for 9-10 minutes. Remove from heat & allow it to stand covered for 5 minutes.</p>

Pre-cooking: Rinse the rice thoroughly. Measures: Open pan cooking- 5 cups of water for 1 cup of rice. Closed Pan/Microwave - 2 cups of water for 1 cup of rice. (The rice may require slightly more or less water to cook depending on how hard or soft the water is). Add 1TBS of butter or oil or margarine; and salt to taste.
