A fun short read with beautiful illustrations
This book is great, it has many Japanese stories and the illustrations just add to the charm. The cover is beautiful and a great display piece for book lovers, but I wish the book was a bit longer, as it is relatively short

Beautiful illustration and fun reads
Generally speaking this book is easily one of the most beautiful pieces I’ve been able to own. Definitely one of my favorites and one I’ll use as stories to tell my own children someday. Each tale is anywhere between a few pages to a maximum of 20, all with their own lessons to be learned or something poetic in some way, complete with vivid illustration and a very clean quality paper and even it’s own bookmark. Definitely a must have for someone who loves Japanese literature or something unique to tell the kids before bed!

It's a brief book, and I was hoping for something more comprehensive.
I'm a fantasy/science fiction writer and I collect fairy tales and anthologies for inspiration and reference, so I ordered this because it looked good and had good reviews. It did have some stories in it I'd never heard before, and they gave me some good insight into the perspective of Japanese people when it comes to folklore, but I wish it had more stories in it.

Great quality book, great read and great artwork!
I absolutely love this book, it’s got a lot of great stories in it! The artwork in it is beautiful, and it’s a very good quality book! Even if you aren’t that into Japanese myths and tales, these stories are great and captivating! It looks great along with my other mythology books too, so that’s another bonus!

Great collection of stories
Great collection of stories, neat pictures too. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who likes mythology. Some of the stories might be too scary for small children, though.

Good binding
A great intro for yokai/folk tales of Japan. Fun illustrations & can be an intro to a more complete volume. Especially the bi-lingual folk tale book series.

Beautiful book, includes footnotes
Beautiful book with a solid collection of stories. The book is a hardcover with some contrasting colours on the cover and some artwork throughout the book. There is a nice margin on the pages so it doesn’t feel as crowded, or as busy as some novels do. One thing I wasn’t expecting but do appreciate is that there are footnotes featured at the footer throughout the book that provide further information, explanation, context, or fun tidbits to further enhance the experience and understanding of the reader.

Stunning!
Aesthetically speaking, this is probably the most beautiful book I've ever seen. The hard cover is very detailed, the pages are well done, and the illustrations are beautiful. As for the content, the Tales are short but interesting. As a non-native English speaker, some of the tales were tougher to read and fully understand, however it was still a good read.

Empfehlung!
