This very green powder can be perplexing, but if you turn it into a smoothie you'll love it. I started using this product in late 1999 for an autoimmune disease issue that almost killed me. It was so new it wasn't even in stores, yet. I couldn't swallow anything that wasn't liquid. I used apple juice, a banana, peanut butter and a scoop of the Perfect Food. I can no longer eat peanut butter, I am allergic, but use sun (flower) butter, which is delicious. You may have to taper up from half a scoop of Perfect Food for a week to 3/4 scoop to a full scoop, as it starts to help probiotics or friendly bacteria colonize in your gut. It does take a week or two, and it can be a little uncomfortable, but that is short, unless you don't take it for a day or two, and you may feel that again. For me, it's worth it. To this, you can add protein powder, meal replacement powder, a tablespoon or a cup of yogurt to make it creamier, or just mix it with water and drink. You can add any kind of juice, milk, or fruit. It improved my immune system function so well that I am a customer for life, and my friends started drinking smoothies with Perfect Food, and their friends started, too. One friend uses nonfat strawberry yogurt, soy milk, frozen strawberries and a banana with a scoop of Perfect Food. It's delicious. Her cats love it, too. She list weight and I was under weight, and my weght stabilized, too. Another friend gives it to her dogs. They love it (just don't use chocolate for dogs). I have substituted coconut milk for the juice, in addition to almond, hemp, rice, oat and sometimes soy milk. I am on day 2 of using this product. I currently mix a half scoop of this with a half scoop of Amazing Grass Berry Flavor...don't let the name fool you, both of these products taste aweful...but what do you expect? This is a very fine green powder that smells kind of like fishy greens. The taste is pretty bad but I used to juice and was able to put back some bad looking and tasting things for the sake of health and this is no different. Yesterday when I arrived home late I immediately made my dinner. A half scoop or Raw Meal chocolate and a half scoop of Shakeology with a banana, almond milk, berries and sometimes even a yogurt. This time I mixed in a half scoop of this product and the one I mentioned above. It definitely changed the flavor a lot. It mixed OK in my blender but the flavor was definitely ruined. Tolerable, but bad. I rated this product an initial 4**** because I took my second serving this morning, half in my shake and half in a different veggie drink similar to nakid's version. I FEEL GREAT! I don't feel like I have a crazy amount of energy but I do feel like I have a bit more maybe. I did get a bit gassy today but it isn't a pungent type so I think what you eat will play a role in odor more than this stuff. It is made with pre and pro biotics people...it is supposed to make you more regular and part of that is that when you start you should expect to poop and fart more. A lot of people rate this 1* because of flavor. Let me ask you the last time you tasted a food that was delicious AND healthy? Now try to imagine what it would be like to actually eat all of the raw material that is pretty dried and ground for you... You will never get this much into you without juicing which is expensive to do at nearly $14 per meal if all organic at a store instead of farmers market. So far its working, I can overcome the flavor. I think that peanut butter may be able to mask it but I don't like peanut butter too much so I will try to find ideas.
