Does it sting when applied to a new, open cut? If so, is it tolerable?

Hmm, it never stung me when I applied it to my cuts (but they were minor). I'm guessing that it shouldn't sting too bad since it's an ointment and doesn't have any alcohol base in it. In fact, ointments are suppose to be soothing not stinging.

What kind of expiration date now?? Please
