Beautiful beads. Great for making mala's and bracelets!
Great looking wooden beads for jewelry or any other crafts and delivered faster than promised with a extra lovely gift! Those beads are nicely made of actual wood with even finish. Excellent workmanship. I love the light, almost unique cedar scent they give off. It seems that these beads are more than 200pcs since they can make two 108 malas, besides there are two elastic cords in the pack, which is perfectly convenient when you just need some. Great product and service! Thoroughly recommended!

High quality, amazing polish, well-finished holes. Great buy!
I purchased the 500 pc. ebony beads in 8mm. They are definitely an ebony-type wood, as they do sink in water. ("Ebony" covers several kinds of wood that are generally dark, and can be either patterned or plain. They're all dense, have specific gravity near or greater than that of water, and take a fine polish.) These beads look like black glass. Close examination under pure white light (6400K) reveals a slight chocolate brown tint that, if anything, improves the richness of the black. The holes are well-finished. The polish is so good that I cleaned one bead with acetone to make sure it wasn't an artificial finish. I make malas for Buddhist meditation, and will definitely purchase from CarpenterC again. Very pleased.

Decent but could have been better.
Thuja wood beads are about two shades lighter in person than shown in pictures, which was a bit disappointing as I was purchasing specifically for the color shown in photo...definitely smells like thuja, very overpowering at first, so be aware of that when you purchase if you have a sensitivity to smell like I do. Bead condition was fair, had about 25 or so beads that I had to take a needle and poke the hole through bc they were not fully made during the production. All in all, decent beads, but for the price, they honestly could have been a bit better.

Horrible smell and a rash
My order arrived on time and I was more than excited to receive them. But when I open the package I was hit by a harsh chemical smell, not the sandalwood smell I had hoped for. I decided to wash them hoping it would remove the smell but it did not. I decided to make a bracelet anyway but after a few hours of wear, my wrist had a horrible rash on it. I would not recommend this product to anyone who actually wants to wear this for any period of time.

The lighter colored ones were amazing, perfectly round (except for the odd one here ...
I ordered to different shades of the 8mm wood beads from this company for my daughter to use in her bead making projects. The lighter colored ones were amazing, perfectly round (except for the odd one here and there) and nearly every one punched through with only minor splintering in the hole. However, the rosewood ones are no where near as round and almost every one of the holes has to be punched through as the lacquer they used to dye the beads formed over the hole as well. Now, i know that's not that large of a deal but I didn't order a bag full of minor woodworking projects. Overall 3 out of 5 based off of lack of uniform quality control.

These beads are prettier than the photo gives them credit ...
These beads are prettier than the photo gives them credit for. I used them to make rosaries. There were enough to make three 5 decade rosaries.

Inconsistent product
I've ordered these beads twice in the past. They were great, light colored and smelled very good. I REORDERED the same beads and when they came, they were darker...DEFINITELY NOT the same beads. This company isn't consistent and now I've wasted money and time. I have a huge event I'm preparing for and now am not sure if I can find the same bead in a reasonable amount of time. Very frustrating!!!

As described, plus three-hole "T" beads extra
The beads I received were as described, or close enough. The color might have been different, but well within the variation one should expect. My beads did not have any problems with incompletely bored holes. All that earned a four-star evaluation. I added an extra star because the shipment also included a couple of three-hole "T" beads, the bottom part of a guru bead. I was not expecting that.I bought these wooden beads to restring a mala that had been composed mostly of stone beads, so I already had the three-hole bead. However, the new ones included were better than the one I had, so I used one of them instead. There were also some extra single-hole beads that would form the upper part of a guru bead, but they were broken. Well, no matter that as 1) they were an unpaid-for extra, 2) I already had one from the previous mala, and 3), among the extra beads included were some smaller beads, and I could have used three of them to replace the upper part of a guru bead. Whether these extras are always included, i don't know, but I appreciated them, so they were worth the extra star. Finally, I should mention that the beads I received were odorless. I consider that a benefit. If you need a scent, it might be best to rub on some sandalwood essential oil diluted in sesame-seed oil or something of that sort. You would need to do that periodically to maintain a scent even if the beads had arrived scented. Also, if you live in a cold place (as I do), a wooden (or mostly wooden) mala is often better than a stone-bead mala. Typical winter temperatures here are about -14C/7F. At those temperatures, stone beads are painful to handle. Wooden beads are much kinder to the fingers. Wooden beads also make a lighter mala. The mala I just restrung uses three stone beads at the 7th, 14th, and 21st places, but they are so infrequent that they are not a problem on cold days as one handles them only briefly.Concerning the problems some had with rashes, i cannot say much. i do not wear malas on my skin. I generally keep it hidden away in a pocket. If one has sensitive skin and wears the mala on the wrist or around the neck, I would avoid rubbing anything like a scented oil on the beads. Finally, the shipment included two lengths of an elastic cord (another unpaid-for extra). I did not use them. I purchased separately a cord from Griffin. They have silk or nylon cords (in a variety of colors) with an attached bit of wire that makes threading the beads quit a bit easier. All in all, I would say that the supplier of these beads was of a generous nature given the extras. Whether these extras are always included, i do not know.
