How long does the sand run for?

I don’t know where someone got 3 minutes from - I bought this March 2023 and it runs for 40 seconds.

Is the hourglass part actually glass or plastic? Needed for a kids costume so has to be safe!

I can't be 100% sure, the reason being that the glass container is very well protected by the design of the front. However the back of the piece is flat and only the fine neck is supported whilst the cup ends simply sit loosely in place. The material of the chamber itself has a dull resonance not the sharp sound you would expect from glass. It is also warm to touch. I cannot in good conscience wholly endorse this item, you need to make your knowledge of the children who will be handling it. Ours is an adult home with just the cats to knock things off ,but I'm also a mum and know what children are capable of! So I'm afraid I must leave it with you, just sorry I couldnot give you a more definitive answer. Good luck Janice 🙏
