Works to add water to pond from the city water supplied garden hose.
I have been using these for years to top off my garden pond, or add water after a partial water change. I have plants, goldfish and frogs, and they all come through unscathed. I do take the precaution of setting the water flow to little more than a good steady trickle, on the theory this slow flow gives the filter more time to remove the chemicals I want removed. As mentioned, this has worked flawlessly for many years.

Good for small water changes
This is a great product to have if you are needing to top off your koi pond and just adding a small amount of water over time. I recently had a parasite outbreak in my koi pond and had to do thousands of gallons (literally) of water changes and this product would not have been able to handle the amount of water I had to put back in. Even with my hose wide open without the filter it took me 2 hrs to fill my pond back up! My recommendation is to be sure to use a declorinater when you are adding a lot of water to your pond. For a top off it works great though and I plan on putting a float valve to auto fill my pond during the summer when the water evaporates using this filter

They work like a charm
We've used these filters for our rv city water hookup for three seasons now. They work like a charm, and the brass fittings keep them from breaking and cracking during the season. Other brands have cheap plastic connections that are prone to breaking off as well as they don't last as long as this one. This puppy lasts an entire camping season (about 5 months for us). Well worth the $$.

It is clumsy screwing on and off. It does make it easily to hose water into the fish pond. So the fish are still living so it works
