Do you still have the 100 day trial period if you buy through Amazon?

Yes, you do. I purchased my mattress through Amazon and requested a firmer "comfort layer" from Emma directly. Not only did they send me the layer free of charge, as they say they will do on their website, they also re-set my trial period so I could use the mattress AND the comfort layer for 100 days! Now THAT'S what I call Customer Service! :)

Should the memory foam layer go on the top or bottom? Eg, which way up should I use the pillow?

You can use it either way. One is bit firmer than the other. Try which suits you better.

Which layer is the softer side please ? 3 weeks in and I’m still suffering shoulder pain

I'm not sure. I had to return mine under the guarantee as it didn't work for me, no matter what way I swapped the layers around.

I left mine for 3 days as it smelled. It expanded to full size fairly quickly. It is VERY firm. Be aware, I didn’t get on with mine and had a nightmare trying to send mine back and get a refund!
