It is worth every penny
Dear god where has this thing been my whole life. I have bought a literal ton of tech hardware in my life and few things make me clap and jump at how good they are like this camera did. Wow. Just wow what a great picture.

limited connection types
Can't believe how limited your options for connecting to it are for how much this thing costs. Its provided USB is very short, no wireless options, and it's not working with a kvm over ethernet.

Not working well in Zoom
The good news is the optical zoom and presets work very well. The video quality is exceptional when recording and looks pretty good in Skype. The bad news is even though it's a Zoom certified camera, the resolution is very poor. I've requested support for my Zoom Pro account, they don't answer. I've traded email with Aver support and they've been no help. Very expensive camera for it not to work in Zoom.

ive installed a bunch of these and they are trash
The image quality is no better than a $100 webcam. The settings are vague and weird. The zoom is digital and grainy. The remote works intermittently. The framing and other "AI" stuff barely works. This camera is a complete rip off.

Clearing up confusion
I was compelled to write this review in response to other reviewers'.To the criticism that connection options are limited to Usb type-C *with too short a cable*, and no wifi transmission:A 4K camera capturing at 30 fps requires data transmission in excess of earlier usb standards. The signal also degrades over distance. Max ~15 feet.Wifi connectivity would be unreliable at anything less than 6 gigabit connectivity.(From wikipedia's entry on uncompressed video: 24-bit, 4K UHD @ 60 fps: 24 × 3840×2160 × 60 = 11.9 Gbit/s.)"Wireless interfaces such as Wireless LAN (WLAN, Wi-Fi), WiDi, and Wireless Home Digital Interface can be used to transmit uncompressed standard definition (SD) video but not HD video because the HD bit rates would exceed the network bandwidth. HD can be transmitted using higher speed interfaces such as WirelessHD and WiGig. In all cases, when video is conveyed over a network, communication disruptions or diminished bandwidth can corrupt the video or prevent its transmission."To address the concerns of a review who complains this zoom-approved camera doesn't display 4k video in zoom conferences, rather a lower resolution, I would say this camera works well in general. The resolution you see on Zoom is limited by Zoom. It's not the camera's fault. The Aver540 captures in 4k. It is not responsible for the stream.Overall I am glad i purchased this camera open box on ebay for $600. It works great. I have concerns about the mounting. I don't think the directions are very clear, and I was missing some hardware - the seller claimed the missing screws were never to be seen. Thankfully, Aver's got great customer service. I think it was somebody high up in the company who got back to me promptly and shipped the missing hardware to me for free. Very rare to see that level of care.I don't know much about cameras, but I find I have to adjust some of the brightness settings in my streaming software, because when it's too dark, or too bright, there appears a kind of digital graininess to the image. I use XsplitBroadcaster to teach live music lessons, and Aver540 is my main camera. The manual adjust is invaluable, as I am constantly moving positions. Is it worth the Retail price? I don't know. it's definitely worth the $600 I paid for it. If you make money online professionally, it will add polish to your presentations, assuming you record them and upload them yourself. Even though Zoom maxes out resolution at 720 or below (?), the image is still improved even if Zoom doesn't use the 4k resolution.Hope this review helps people!

Impressed. Spectacular picture. form factor, and performance.
I've used cameras from vaddio, sony, polycom, cisco, tandberg, etc. and this camera is a spectacular by for under $1k. It has rs232 control for integration with a control system. I'll report back if that doesn't work, but my initial impression is very impressed. Make sure you enable hd in the settings of your conferencing app, or the quality will be crummy. I intend to use this in my large conference room installations moving forward.
